My Office Jet Pro 8600 Plus has two vertical lines on scans. It doesn't happen when i scan a single page on the glass -- only when i scan a multi page doc thru the feeder. I tried cleaning the glass. No luck.
I tried unpluggin the machine (2X) -- no luck.
Any suggestions? The machine is about 1 month old.

I too, was frustrated, that after 2 weeks of owning the printer, I would have colored vertical scan lines on color scans. I followed the instructions, and unplugged my printer (while it was powered on,) waited 15 seconds and then plugged it back in.
That solution DID work for me.
I hope you have similar luck. It's a nice printer. There should be no need to have to return it after such a short time.

Again, I appreciate that the mods are offering up the solutions pages, however for the majority of us that is not a permanent answer. I am still unplugging constantly. The worst part is that I have to scan every doc to make sure there aren't any lines, or else I would not know that they were there until the receiver of the fax contacts me. This is very frustrating. My small business is suffering because of wasted time and for all appearances shoddy equipment is looking bad for my reputation.
Please HP provide a permanent fix.......if it is an electrical issue then give us new power cords. Please do SOMETHING!

It is a metal ring that goes around cords. Look at the barrels on a usb cord or power cord. Can probably get them from amazon. But my vertical lines came back on my last fax. Power cycle fixed it.
