Officejet 6500 E709a network printer disappear from PC after shutting down

Hello All,

I have Officejet 6500 E709a with the latest firmware and windows 7 ultimate SP1 64-bit (fully updated).

This is a new just installed OS and I had this issue also with my previous OS windows 7 ultimate SP1 32-bit (fully updated).

 

My printer is connected to my home router by cat-5 cable and installed on my PC as network printer, it has a static IP.

After I leave it turned-off for a day or two, the printer and all the components disappears from  my PC (Printer\Fax\Scanner).

While the printer is on, everything works well and it won’t disappear from my PC.

 

When I need to print, Fax or Scan I have to use HP “Add a device” wizard and re-add the device back to my PC.

This are the latest fully updated drivers from HP site 140.0.18.23 and the printer using the latest firmware.

 

What can I do to stop the printer disappear from my PC when it’s turned off?

It sounds like you may be affected by a software issue that can cause the printer to disappear.

 

Make sure this critical update is installed after adding the printer back.  The update is designed to prevent the disappearing printer issue on Windows 7 64bit systems.

Hello Cloud_Strider,

I tried installing the update you gave me but got this messege:

 

"This update does not support any of the HP device drivers that you have on your PC. You do not need this software update".

 

what else can be done?

Was this a full version of Windows 7 installed or was it upgraded from an older Windows operating system?

 

 

One thing I do recommend is to ensure the software is uninstalled completely before continuing.  After all software is removed, install the latest software from HP for that printer then try to install the update.  It sounds like the registry keys, how Windows operates, are disappearing which causes the printer and software to disappear.

Hi Cloud Strider,

I have full new clean installation of Win7 ultimate x64.

Also the drivers was the full installation downloaded directly from HP website.
