Officejet 6500 wireless network port

I just got a new firewall program and now it blocks access to the printer. I remember back when I installed it I had a different firewall that did the same thing, and the install wizard told me to unblock a certain port. Now I can't find which port number that is! If you know which port the printer uses, please reply!

Thanks!

Re: Officejet 6500 wireless network port

These are the ports that you need to unblock in order for your printer to work:

UDP 427 inbound

TCP 139 outbound

UDP 427 outbound

TCP 9220 outbound

UDP 161 outbound

TCP 9500 outbound

UDP 139 outbound

TCP 9290 outbound

And these are the softwares that should be added to the exceptions list of your firewall:

Open the C:\program files\HP\digital imaging\bin directory, and then locate the following files:

hpoews01.exe

hpofxm08.exe

hposid01.exe

hpqkygrp.exe

hpqste08.exe

hpqtra08.exe

hposfx08.exe

hpiscnapp.exe (for HP software v10.0 or later)

OR
hpqscnvw.exe (for HP software v9.0 or earlier)

Open the C:\windows\system32 directory, and then locate the following files:
hpzwiz01.exe
hpznui01.exe

Cheers!

Re: Officejet 6500 wireless network port

I unblocked all the ports, but I couldn't find the programs hpoews01.exe, or either of the ones in the system32 directory, and the printer is still showing as offline on my computer.

Re: Officejet 6500 wireless network port

Try to turn off your computer, printer and your router. Wait for like a minute or two. Turn on your router first, and then your printer, and lastly your computer. Give at least a minute of interval to turn on each devices.
