Officejet j6480 and Vista 64 bit communication problem

We have never been able to get a consistent connection on our j6480. The computer recognizes the printer is there but nothing ever gets out to the printer. We have tried uninstalling the drivers and doing the install from the beginning several times and nothing seems to work. We even hooked it up directly to the computer with an ethernet cable and nothing! Help.

Tell me about your network - router brand/model, encryption type (WEP, WPA, etc) and ISP type (DSL, Cable, etc).

 

What operating system?

Brighthouse Time Warner Cable.  Speed 20.  netgear router.  vista.  hp.

Uninstall the HP software using the uninstaller in the HP folder.

 

Restart your PC.

 

Download and install the latest software for your printer from the "Support & Drivers" link at the top of this page.
