My SSID is unique. I don't use "linksys" or a generic type of name.
Usually when attempting to connect to the network, it will display both my network and a neighbor's, or it will search and not find any at all.
Any other thoughts?

Another possibility is that the IP address of the printer is changing. You might try checking ip then it works and also when it doesn't. The solid blue LED should e an indicator that the printer is connected to the router. If you can't print when the LED is solid that can be an indication of a changed IP.

I did consider that when I was troubleshooting this weekend. I did set a manual IP and I set it as the address where it consistently works. For now everything is working, but I am not convinced that this is solved until it says working properly. As I said in my original post it will work for a while then suddenly disconnect (about every 3-4 weeks). If this works I will update on the forum. I am up and running 3 consecutive days. ![]()
Thanks

I am the only one using my SSID. Changing it will just put it on a network where it canneither pull an ip and I would have to change my connection to use the printer and change it back to use the internet.
But Thanks for replying

My P1102w connected OK to my previous router, but now I am trying to get to somewhere where I can change the Network name (SSID) and the password.
Can find nowhere in the user manual or online for details of how to change these settings.
I can connect with the USB cable and tried running the SISetup.exe. This just tries to re-install device drivers on my host PC (Windows 7 Pro 64 bit).
How can I change the printer's SSID and password?
Thanks

Please help, can't express how frustrated I am with this, seriously put me off HP products.
Blue light, not on, status page states not connected. That's about as far as I can get.
Worked fine at first, now nothing.
Please help, in simple, small step computer laguage.
Thanks

I continue to intermittently get kicked off the network (or maybe I just fall off). I have tried trouble shooting so that doesn't happen and the best thing for me to do is power cycle the PCs and the router and the modem. When it all comes back up it works again.
I wish there was a way for me to just stay on the network, but for whatever reason the printer falls off every few weeks.

Actually, it DOES make a difference. Apparently all HP wireless printers only communicate on channels 6 and 11. If your router is configured to use any other channels the connection will be sporadic. I don't know who's bright idea that was, but it was not one of their better ones.

Will you share what specific printers you have seen problems on with channel other than 6 and 11?
I would also be interested in what routers were involved.
Channels 6 and 11 are good choices. Channel 1 should be a good choice as well - if is is not working well it would be good to troubleshoot why. Knowing the specific hardware (printer and router) will help. Thanks!!!
Most routers default to channel 6 or to auto-channel. Auto-channel can cause connection issues when the channel gets set to other than 1, 6 or 11. This has to do with channel overlap. The channel is the center of the signal. Channel 1 actuqally extends two channels below 1 and two above. If a router gets set to channel 8 then it is overlapping with channels 6-11. That overlap causes noise in the transmissions. If two networks are on the same channel the cleint and router radios will be nice to each other and wait for a chance to use the channel. With a lot of devices using the same channel there will be latency due to this waiting, but no data should get lost.

I have problem with connecting my P1102w printer to my router. It does not accept my WEP key claiming it is invalid. I have use the same WEP key for my macs, iPhone and iPAD to connect to my router. I can only print with the USB connection. Any help?
