Photosmart B110 has IP address and is connected, but my laptop doesn't find it

My Photosmart has been working just fine and now suddenly it has stopped working.  It shows that it is connected to the network, but when I enter its IP address to try to get my PC to recognise it, it won't connect to that IP address. I have uninstalled the driver and tried to reinstall a new download of the driver but doesn't work becaue it can't detect the printer.

I have tried pinging the printer IP address from my computer, and it times out.  What should I do?

Re: Photosmart B110 has IP address and is connected, but my laptop doesn't find it

When you compare the IP from the printer and the one from the laptop, are they almost the same?

xxx.xxx.xxx.100

xxx.xxx.xxx.102

The x numbers should match and the last three digits should be within a few numbers of each other.  If not the printer might be connected to a different network than the computer.

Another problem can be a firewall preventing the laptop from seeing the printer.

This tool should help trpubleshoot firewall problems

The HP Home Network Diagnostic Utility will guide you through troubleshooting your network printer setup and connectivity problems.  It also provides you with a wealth of information regarding your network and, in some cases, automatically fixes network connectivity issues.
The HP Home Network Diagnostic Utility runs on Windows XP, Vista, and Win7.  You will need administrator privileges in order to run the utility.
