i have a 6180 and a clp3505n that have been doing the same thing for quite some time--on 2 computers, both with xp pro. the printers will print within minutes after a reboot, or spooled docs will print after a reboot, but remain in the que until the reboot.
the printers and all of the software were previously loaded and worked fine. started having issues, and several attempts to reload the software/drivers later yield no luck. i have assigned static ip's to all of the printers and used them wired to the ethernet.
the printers can be seen over the network, they printers dialogue says "ready" and the printers can be made to print via the web interface.
the "scan to" does not work either. i can scan from the hp imaging monitior interface.
the vista machine can print with no problem, although the "scan to " feature does not work properly.
i think some/all of the software was not uninstalled cleanly and/or, the software and xp don't like the linysys gigabit routers. That would be the only hardware change made. there may also be something to do sleep, hibernation, etc..
I have been fighting this for months.

When the printer fails to print every couple of weeks, do you end up reinstalling the SW to get things working again?
When you can't print, see if you can access the printer's internal web page by browsing to its IP address. You can get the printer's IP address by printing out the Network Configuration page from the printer's setup menu (under Networking). This will check if the connection between the printer and computer is working.
Finally, what type of wireless-router do you have and what kind of computer are you using?

Sometimes our printer SW that runs on the PC has trouble tracking printer IP address changes, especially if the PC has a firewall (Symantec/Norton, McAfee, Trend Micro, etc) install.
You have a couple of options. If the printer stays put but the laptop moves around, you can set a static IP address for your printer so that it has the same IP every time you print.
If both the printer and laptop move around, you're best bet is to install the printer manually and use the printer's hostname to access the printer. Tell me a bit more about your setup: the type of computer you have and how you move around (laptop moves or printer and laptop moves).

On my 6180 I can not print wirelessly. Everything was working fine then it stopped, nothing changed in my settings. None of my hardware change either, 2 laptop's and 1 desktop all with WIN XP MCE with a netgear wirless router. The only way to get it to print is to power down the printer and then power it back up. I notice that when it will not print the wireless antenna icon on the printer display is missing then when it is powered up it will return and then it will print. Please help it is getting really frustrating having to restart the printer everytime I want to print something.
