Photosmart C7280 will not print from one computer on wireless network

C7280 will not print from desktop computer via a home wireless network. It has worked in the past, but ceased recently.

It will print from a laptop on the same network.

I have tried to comply with the procedures on the HP Support and Drivers site, such as the HPHNDU.exe routine and others, but have had no success.

I would appreciate some help. My previous post in May has not had any replies.

The NDU will not fix your problems but should give you a clue as to what is wrong.  What did it say?

What antivirus are you using?  Have you tried to disable its firewall?

Since I posted this question, I have again uninstalled the HP programming, and believe I am starting from scratch.

Should I exit both the firewall and antivirus programs before I start the installation? What about other programs?

What about trying to install the printer in Safe Mode?

Is there anything I need to do with the printer itself before I start the installation routine? It still works wirelessly from my wifes laptop, so I know it is correctly setup with the router/network.

No, just make sure you have a fresh restart on your computer an that the OS is updated.

I attempted to reinstall the software this morning and it failed.

The message was simply "fatal error"

The progress of the install at failure was:

                     Current progress         65.7 Kpbs

                     Overall progress -  Configuring Your Product  ( step 4/4 )       96%

There is a popup saying that the installer is gathering installation failure information, but it has been doing that for about 20 minutes and doesn't show much beyond a progress bar at about 25%.

Do you have any idea what caused this failure, and what I need to do to get this done?

I now have the HP Installation Error info.

Use the Attachments area just below the text reply field.

I can find no attachment button or the like on this page.

All I see is Spell Check, Quote, Cancel, and Post.

Look to the left and a bit above Cancel and Post.  You are a member and not a visitor, right?

You may not have enough posts to have the privilege of attachments, I am not sure.

Seems that the fatal error was not as fatal as it appeared.

I ran the HPHNDU again out of exasperation, and it printed a test page. So I printed another Notepad document just to be sure, and the printer is now printing. At least it has in one test. That is good, but the flail caused by the "fatal error" report does not exactly inspire confidence in the HP installer.

I bet this didn't happen when Carly was CEO.

I will call this solved, although I am not sure exactly what was solved other than a very odd reinstallation.
