Photosmart Premium Fax C410 -- Goes offline

My printer goes offline after 2-3 days, and the wireless lamp is flashing. After turning the printer off and on again it stays online for another 2-3 days.

Re: Photosmart Premium Fax C410 -- Goes offline

First, make sure your printer is within range of your router's wireless signal.  If so:

Let's set a static IP address for the printer:

- Print a Network Config Page from the front of the printer. Note the printer's IP address.
- Type that IP address into a browser to reveal the printer's internal settings.
- Choose the Networking tab, then Wireless along the left side, then the IPv4 tab.
- On this screen you want to set a Manual IP. You need to set an IP address outside the range that the router automatically sets (called the DHCP range). If you know what that is, set an IP outside that range but no higher than 254 (the last number in the address). If you do not know this, enter the current IP address.
- Use 255.255.255.0 for the subnet (unless you know it is different, if so, use that)
- Enter your router's IP (ends with .1) for the gateway and first DNS. Leave the second one blank.
- Click 'Apply'.

Now, shut down the router and printer, start the router, wait, then start the printer.

After this you may need to redo 'Add a Printer' using the new IP address.

Tried it!

Have even tried to use a different router, but after two days the wireless lamp flashes again.

The printer is only five meters from the router.

Does the printer otherwise work when the lamp is flashing?

Can make copies on the printer, but the wireless is down, so I can't print when the lamp is flashing.

Tell me about your network - router brand/model, encryption type (WEP, WPA, etc) and ISP type (DSL, Cable, etc).

Have even tried connecting to an old D-Link router, and the same thing happens.

Re: Photosmart Premium Fax C410 -- Goes offline

Did you set the static IP outside the DHCP range?

When it appears to be offline, can you type its IP into a web browser address bar and see the internal settings of the printer?  If not, print a network test from the front of the printer to see if it has a valid IP address.

Re: Photosmart Premium Fax C410 -- Goes offline

Have set the IP outside the DHCP range.

Can not connect to the printer via a web browser when it appears to be offline.

Can not connect to Webprint either.

Will print a network test next time it goes offline.
