I have the same problem, multiple copies from Win7 Home Prem 64 bit and not from Win 7 Pro 32 bit. Happens with MS Office and Firefox email printing. Printer is HP 6000n using wireless connection.

Just to let everyone know the problem isn't just with XP, Vista or Windows 7. I'm having the same problem on Windows 2003. What I see on the printer information page under status may give some insight to the posters. Mine shows printing and when that page is almost finished printing it displays printing-resetting. Hopefully this may key someone in to a fix. I just tried setting up the port as previously stated (by checking LPR Protocol and checking LPR and enabling SNMP), and it's working fine so far. I'll let you know in a few days if this has totally corrected the problem. Thanks for the great post. and the help.

Hi I was experiencing the same problem using my Acer 5335 with win7 and an HP 109n wireless
This has fixed the problem so far
"start"--> "printers and device"s--> right click "printing properties" --> "Advanced" Tab ---> select "print directly to printer"
typically I only print small documents randomly on my home network and am not a heavy printer so this is fine for me,
If you are printing huge documents regularly this may slow down your system while not using spooling.

We had the same problem at work a while ago. Our IT guys couldn't figure the problem out. I know this won't help you much, but I was able to fix the problem. I think it involved uninstalling the printer on the computer (software and drivers) then adding the printer back to the computer. I think that was what solved the issue. This was not an 8500, it was an HP laser printer.

maybe I should've done the following two things in isolation, but the following solved it for me:
1) Adding the printer IP to the trusted list
2) Changing the advanced printer settings to 'start printing after the last page is spooled'

Dear all,
I've been reading with interest the possible solutions to this problem. I've just installed an Airport Express to replace my old router. I'm using a HP laptop running Windows 7 (work), a Sony Laptop running windows 7 and an Acer to print from a HP CP1215 LaserJet wirelessly.
All working fine apart from the fact that all print jobs from all of them just keep on printing. Numerous test pages etc. Just when you think it's finished, they just keep on coming. Record so far is 13 copies of a 1 page document.
I've tried the advanced option of sending directly to the printer but Ikeep on getting an error message which will not allow me to do this.
Has anyone got a sure fire way of sorting this out? My wife has already chewed my ear off for changing it all in the first place. It was working so well until we tried to print!!!
How do I add the printers IP to the trusted list? I'll try anything![]()
Here's hoping!!

Not sure if you tried the port LPR setting an earlier post suggested ... That did the trick for me (with the 8500 A909) while I was still using Vista -- and once I upgraded my computer to Windows 7, I haven't had any more problem. Sure sounds like HP has some issues to work out though. Good luck!

jarroyo11 wrote:Well, here is what I did last night which is something I had tried before, but with a new twist:
1) Went to printer properties (right mouse click on the printer icon when you get to a list of your printers)
2) Selected the Ports tab.
3) For the port that the HP is using, I selected it by clicking on it and did a "configure" Make sure you do not click on the little box that has the check mark or it will deslect the port. Just click on the description somewhere so it is selected.
4) For protocol selected LPR
5) Under LPR Settings I set the Queue Name to the printer host name. In my case, HPPrinter (probably your case too). This time I clicked the LPR Byte counting Enabled
6) Clicked OK to exit and save the changes
Everything works fine. If I go back an un-select the LPR Byte counting Enabled, the problem immediately appears again (so of course, I went back and clicked). So this time I feel pretty good about it. Please, give it a go and see if it works for you is it has worked for all of my Vista machines. Seems like LPR protocol with the Byte Counting Enabled is the key. Good luck
I've been having the same problem for several months and once I tried this step it has stopped (I have gone through 3 or 4 small printing jobs with no multiple copies. Thanks for your help! I'm using Win7 64bit and using an HP Officejet Pro 8500 Wireless.

Thanks, that worked for me too. Using Win 7, 64 bit, and have had the 8500 for several months. It just decided to start printing endless copies. It seems to be particular about upper and lower case: HPPrinter:

Thank you jarroyo11. More than a year after your post, you are still helping people out! We bought my daughter a new laptop for school and it had the continuous printing issue just like everyone else. The laptop has Win 7 HOME addition and mine has Win 7 Prof. The home additions of Win have always had networking issues, however, I could not, for the life of me, figure this one out. That's when I started looking and found your posting in this forum. I just tried it and it WORKS PERFECTLY!!!!!!!!!! Thank you so much for your help! ![]()
