Pulling my hair out! Can't set up wireless printing on HP Photosmart 5510

So I just bought the HP7515 wireless and could not have been more frustrated.  I encountered many of the issues note here. The main issue I had was with the printer going offline shortly after setting it up and getting it to work.  I could cycle the wireless on the printer and it would come back online for a short time or I could cycle my router and it would come back online.  Initial setup on my computers were hit or miss too and required cycling to get them setup.

I first set the IP address outside the dynamic range to try to get a static IP - that didn't solve it

I then went into the router settings and dedicated an IP address - that didn't solve it

I thought it might be due to the energy saver mode so I set it to 15 minutes - that didn't solve it

I read to set it to demo mode so it didn't go into energy saver mode - that didn't solve it

Finally I spoke with HP IT and after 2 hrs on the phone the tech said the issue was due to the encryption that I was using.  I have WOW cable with an arris modem/router combo.  It was set up to use WPA encryption. He stated it needed to be WEP encryption.  I changed it to 128 bit WEP after the call.  Now it works on all my computers and never gets disconnected.  Halleluiah.

Well, after some days fo seamless printing, and having printed several items this evening, I am having the same problem...my MacBook is telling me that the printer is not connected again.  Given that I have already changed to chanel 11, I am lost for ides.  Not being technical, I do not know what other chanel I could switch to.  Makes me want to cry/scream/kick said printer

I am still having the problem too. My Mac does not recognize the printer. I don't know how to swicth the channel on my router etc. My router is a simple one, it doen't have any functions that I can play with.

But my Mac has bootcamp and bootcamp recognizes the printer. So I have been switching from Mac- PC everytime when I print which is sucks. But to return the printer is too much hassle. Overall the printer sucks and I will never ever buy a HP printer again.

How'd you do that? Is it the setting on the printer itself?

I had the same problem with my printer but I accidently figured out what my problem was. I changed some of my wireless preferences on the router recently so I finally decided to go back and change all of them to default. That fixed my problem. If you know how to get into your router set up pages, try resetting the wireless settings to their default values and see what happens. Let me know how it goes.

I have the same problem as everybody else: Cannot connect my MACBOOK air to a brand new HP C410a wirelessly but can connect 3 different PCs throughout my home on Win 7 , Win XP and Win Vista without any issues.

I finally SOLVED my problem

....by changing the wireless channel I connect to all my devices to Channel 11 on my router (DLINK DIR-655). Note nothing else ever conflicted before that and I had 9 devices conecting wirelessly to the router.

This is just the HP printers, which are very poorly engineered and tested for wireless connections. Fortunately, This change did not affect any of my other connections, my PCs are still printing to this new printer and I also get my MAC to print as well. 

Try it out....

HP: You could certainly do better than that. After 3 weeks of pulling my hair like the other folks....

Wow this worked for me. Setting to channel 11 did it. Now the web interfaces work and I can print again.

I have a Photosmart C309 and C409 and both had this same issue.

Like Frank said, this should work on any channel regardless not just two of them. If this is the case, HP needs to put on top of the printer a paper that says "If you are setting this up to wireless network use channel 1 or 11". Let's be honest here, if I know how to setup a wifi connection, I am not reading a manual.

Just purchased a Photosmart 5510e. Setup will not recognize the printer on Windows 7 (64bit). I can go through ALL the install and I can "see" the printer. I can SCAN with the printer using Adobe but the scan (nor anything else) will print.

The printer works fine on a usb cable. AND I can Load the software to 2 other computers (windows VISTA (64bit AND 32bit) and print and scan.

Logic says the problem lies with the Windows 7 Printer driver software? BUT I have the latest version loaded. I have so far, Loaded the software twice, used the Download "scrubber" to ensure removal of any last vestiges of code etc;

H-P "chat" was pleasant but not very helpful, (no solution) and would ONLY suggest I phone the UK Help desk come Monday.

Had a look on the "Microsoft" site but I can find no useful info there?

Have you tried changing the channel on your wi-fi router to either 1 or 11?

It a Windows 7 Issue. (IMHO)
