I did completely uninstall AVG and it still disconnected in a couple hours. But on the positive side I got a newer version of AVG when I reinstalled it. I have had my computer randomly disconnect from the internet for long time.I may have thought it to be normal when it wasn't. I am wandering if the printer problem is the same and also wandering if I may have a bad router causing it. Do you think that is possible or even likely?

Sure, bad routers happen.
Did you test your printer between uninstalling the old AVG and installing the new?

Finally it seem to be working correct. When I removed AVG it still disconnected but I had the Windows firewall on. When I installed the new AVG I installed the AVG firewall and that turned off the Windows firewall. At first it was still disconnecting but I noticed in the settings It had installed with profile set on "connected direct to the internet" and there is another option that is "Small home and office network" that it should have set on. I changed it to "Small home and office network" and could tell the printer was working but it kept going back to "connected direct to the internet". After searching around and trying unsuccessfully to get help from AVG we finally found a check box that says "disable area detection and automatic profile switch". With this box checked it stays on "Small home and office network" and the printer stays connected (so far).

Crap. While I was typing it disconnected and is not staying again. This thing has a demon.

What router are you using? If it is a few years old go get a new Linksys or Netgear for $50 and your troubles will likely go away.

Thanks for all the help. A new router fixed the problem completely.
