1. HP Officejet Pro 8500 Wireless
2. Mac OS 10.7.4 (Lion)
3. No messages...wireless printer simply doesn't appear as an available printer
4. Upgraded from Snow Leopard to Lion
5. Printer/scanner will not appear as available printers when attempting to print wirelessly. Before computer OS upgrade, printer connected to router wirelessly. After OS upgrade, printer can no longer "see" and connect to the network in the Wireless setup menu, even though wireless router is within a few feet of the printer and other wireless devices are working OK.
Other comments:
a. Printer/scanner works fine via USB.
b. Troubleshooting hasn't worked:
1. Reset printing system
2. Performed software update
3. Downloaded HP's full feature software package 2.8 (and uninstalled after it failed to work)
4. Reset printer's wireless settings to default and attempted to connect to network.
5. Cycled power on printer, computer and router (Apple Time Capsule)
Please help! Thanks

I assume the printer is indeed connected to the TC with a valid IP address.
If so, download and install this: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL907
Reset the printing system:
- Go to System Preferences > Print & Scan
- Right (or control) click in the rectangle listing your printers and select Reset Printing System.
WARNING - this will delete ALL of your printers!
- Select the plus sign to re-add a printer. Select the Defualt tab on the top of the window. Look for the printer, select it and wait until the "Add" button becomes available. Click it.

Hello,
I followed the instructions as detailed which included downloading and installing the software from apple.com/kb/DL907 and resetting my mac's printer system by higging control - click and thus deleting all printers listed.
the final step noted was to open up Preferences, go to print/scan and add a printer by clicking on the plus and default option and waiting for the add button to be available.
unfortunately my printer queu is now empty and the HP Officejet Pro 8500A plus is not appearing as an option I can add. Note: I verified that my printer is working by printing from its monitor, and verified that the printer is on my wireless network.
What do you suggest?
Thank you...

I am also having this problem. I cannot print with my HP Officejet Pro 8500A on OS X 10.7.4. I downloaded from the link in the before mentioned instructions as well as resetting my printers. I still cannot get this thing to work.
When I click on the plus sign to add the printer, which does show up, this is the message that I get:
"Some of the software for the printer is missing. The software is available from Apple. Would you like to download and install it?"
I download from Apple, install, and then I get:
"Some of the software for the printer is missing. The software for the printer was installed incorrectly. Please reinstall the software from the manufacturer."
Please help! I'm so tired of not being able to print, and I am also tired of performing the above mentioned actions repetitively with no change. It is INSANITY.

OK, next, download and install the latest "Full Feature" software for your printer from the "Support & Drivers" link at the top of this page.
What router are you using?

Using Time Capsule. I printed out the networking pages from the printer itself. Looks like everything is connected. ??? BTW, Thanks for getting back to me. I have downloaded and installed the "full feature software." What happened to HP Utility that I used to have in my dock?
Thanks,
knatzHP

OK, Iet's uninstall the software using the 'scrubber' option:
Go to Applications/Hewlett Packard/ click on HP Uninstaller
Click on Continue
Highlight your device on the left pane
Press and hold Control + Alt + Cmd keys on the keyboard simultaneously while you click on Uninstall <<<< This IS the Scrubber Option, there is no button labeled "Scrubber"
There will be a pop up that asks if you are sure you want to uninstall ALL hp software. (At this point, if you continue, any HP printers you have installed will need to be reinstalled)
Click Continue and let it finish
Download and install this: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL907
Restart your Mac.
Now reset the printing system:
- Sys Prefs, Print & Fax
- Right (control) click in the rectangle listing your printers and select Reset Printing System.
WARNING - this will delete ALL of your printers!
Finally, download and install the latest software for your printer from the "Support & Drivers" link at the top of this page.

I also have been having these disconnect problems since I upgraded to LION 10.7.4. Wireless printing works and then for no apparent reason it loses the wireless driver and only sees the normal print driver.
I don't have the same HP model but I suspect the resolution - if there is one - is the same. There are a lot of posts about losing the wireless driver for all models.
I downloaded http://support.apple.com/kb/DL907 then reset and now I have HP software to scrub and maybe never had the software. When I go to applications I don't have hewlett packard software.
If I downloaded the driver package where did it go? When I click the + in the printer window I don't have any choices at all.

The driver package goes in the Library folder, so you won't see an app, per say.
Download and install the latest software for your printer from the "Support & Drivers" link at the top of this page.
