Uverse password for gateway

Cannot find the correct password to enter into my 6510 e All in One Photosmart printer for the U-Verse router.  The printer finds my network but doesn't accept the Wireless Network Key, the System Password or the Key Code all printed on the U-verse gateway router.  Am running Win 7 64bit professional. Have gone to the IP address for the router and see that under password the default password is checked.

Does the router use WEP?  Can you change it to WPA (and create your own password)?
