Re: Video for Installing the HP All-in-One in a Wireless Network (Infrastructure Mode)

I have a HP printer, copy, scan and fax #2210xi.

My problem is I can't seem to connect my printer to my new wireless network.

I have recently switched from another phone company where my printer was working with my network computers.

On one of the computers I am trying to connect the printer to tells me the "spooler" is not running/working??? The spooler isn't doing something anyways.

I was just looking at your video about installing the HP all in one in a wireless network. Would you know if I were to go through the installing steps would this work with my printer?? I had called HP and they told me my printer is out dated to connect for wireless but I find that hard to believe when I was JUST connected a month ago to a wireless network.

Any infomation would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

Diana

I'm sure the steps in this video will work for your printer.

Re: Video for Installing the HP All-in-One in a Wireless Network (Infrastructure Mode)

OK, this might be a silly question but I have watched the video, but do I need to do the installation on my main computer that the printer is already hooked up to or do I need to do the installation to the computers that are wireless and I want to be able to print from?? I am not a computer wizard so not sure what I am doing. Please help! LOL

Re: Video for Installing the HP All-in-One in a Wireless Network (Infrastructure Mode)

install it on the ones you want to print from, and not the ines that are already working. If the printer is already connected to the network, then just proceed with the software installation.

Re: Video for Installing the HP All-in-One in a Wireless Network (Infrastructure Mode)

I am so sorry to be asking these stupid questions but I want to make sure I am doing it right.

If I am trying to connect my wireless computers to the printer that is already connected to the printer do I ONLY need to"install" or do I need to "download" to the computers I want to print from?

Re: Video for Installing the HP All-in-One in a Wireless Network (Infrastructure Mode)

i just got my hp c4740 last night and am about to set it up.  i have 3 computers connected and networked thru a wired/wireless router. one computer, with xp-pro, is conected to the router with a cable as it doesnt have wireless capabilities. the 2nd computer is a desktop with xp-pro is connected wirelessly to the router/network. the 3rd computer is a laptop using vista home permium and is connected wirelessly to the router/netwrok.

id like to do the initial install on my wireless laptop computer so that i have all the full functunality.   i then want to have the printer available thru the network to the wired desktop and the wireless desktop. the network originated from the wired desktop, but since they are all networked thru the router, is it possible to do the original install of the printer to my wireless laptop and have the printer still be available to the desktops that have wired and wireless connections to the router.

i dont know if that made sense.  my concern is whether it matters if the network originated on one computer, but be able to have the initital install of the printer thru the laptop that the network didnt originate from - even though it is on the network.

nay advice/feedback will be greatly appreciated!  thanks in advance!

Re: Video for Installing the HP All-in-One in a Wireless Network (Infrastructure Mode)

It makes no difference how your network was set up nor on how the computers are currently connected to your network.

Once your printer is on the network (choose one of the computers to set it up with, it does not matter which one), then adding the software to the others is easy because the printer should be found on the network by the install software).

Re: Video for Installing the HP All-in-One in a Wireless Network (Infrastructure Mode)

[ Edited ]

Thank you.  I have a Wireless PhotoSmart Premium All-in-one Printer.  The video confirmed my steps for installation were correct.  However, in the last 4 days, I've had 6 tech calls to HP as I cannot print.  Most recently, after the latest tech's assistance, my printer cannot find or connect to my network.  Each tech had their own theory, from a problem w/ router relating to N/G/B speed (???), a firewall blocking communication between printer/laptop, MAC address filter to the fact the router changes the IP address on the printer.  My case was escalated yesterday at HP, but I have not yet heard back from them.  Needless to say, I am not happy w/ HP.

I have just enough experience to be dangerous, but I do have some experience.  Anything you can suggest would be greatly appreciated!  You can email me at<text removed for privacy>

Thank you and Have a great day!
