The video is great but it does not describe my problem.
I can install my j6450 as a wireless device using Windows 7 Control panel 'Add A Printer' but it does not install the HP Solution Center software.
Therefore I am using the Windows 7 installation package OJJ640_Full_13 downloaded from HP. (The CD that came with my printer does not work with Windows 7).
During the search for printers on the wireless network it consistently - I've tried three times - stops with the message "Cannot ping 184.108.40.206" ! (This address belongs to someone in nothern Germany). It will only proceed if I install and use a USB connection.
HP support staff ignore this pinging issue and instruct me to do very fundamental and sometimes silly things like use the installation CD. I've given up on that resource.
I wouild like to have both a wireless printer AND the Solution Center. At the moment I can have either but not both. My problem seems to hinge on getting past this mysterious pinging problem. Has anyone else encountered it?

when I try to install I don not get the connection type screen that gives you the option of usb or network. I am trying to install a J5750 and my only choices are connect now or later

Perhaps this question has already been covered, but the video seems aimed at 'wireless' printers connected to a wireless network. But I would like to configure a non-wireless 'network-ready' printer such as my OfficeJet 6300 on a wireless network - for example connecting the printer to the wireless router via an ethernet cable, and then using the printer printer from my wireless laptop (Windows XP). How would I set this up?
In previous attempts at this I was successful getting things to 'print' wirelessly, but the 'scan' function would not work at all either from my laptop or directly from the 6300 itself. The laptop gave an error message saying the device was not connected (but it works fine in the print mode so it's gotta be connected, right?) and when I try to scan directly with the 6300 keypad, I get an error message on the screen saying the scanning software is not installed.
Hope someone can help.

Plug the printer into your router, then download and install this software.

I have a mac snow leopard and a HP c6280 Photosmart Printer
It is wire less but I do not know how to set it up I listened to your tape but I do not have a radio button and my printer say it has ethernet. I did not hear that term in you tape. I am now using the printer with a usb connection. I do have an ethernet cord and have tried that but I see no difference. I tried down loading drivers but I do not know if I did that correctly. Some functions do not work on the printer. I can not scan and save it to jpeg or text. It was on line at one time but the router and modem were replaced and I now have a 2wire att one unit router and modem. I am on line but I am afraid I will do something that might lose that connection as it was a mess getting it on line. I fine doing all this very confusing. I just can not pay the 35.00 for the HP help. I have tired using their support page but there in not much for a mac. Maybe you can help. I need very slow and simple as can be instructions. Hoping you can help [text removed for privacy]

The HP software CD that came with my HP Photosmart C6180 only works for Windows XP. However, when I install the software from the CD I can successfully establish a wireless connection between my PC and the MultiFunction Printer (MFP).
It happens that such connection is not possible when I use the HP software and drivers available at HP website either on Windows XP, Windows Vista or Windows 7 (32-bit or 64 bit versions). As you say in your video, I should first connect the MFP with a USB cable in order to first properly install its drivers. In your video everything goes fine. You connect the MFP to the PC with a USB cable and the installation completes successfully. However, when I connect the MFP to the PC with a USB cable, a pop up window of the type "Found New Hardware" appears, either on Windows XP, Windows Vista or Windows 7. Either if I try to locate the MFP driver automatically, or manually introduce the path for the setup files location, it doesn't install any driver for the MFP because it says that it cannot find the driver. How can I get rid of this "Found New Hardware" window that always appears when I connect the MFP to the PC with a USB cable? In your video, it doesn't appear and you are able to successfully establish a USB connection between the MFP and the PC. Why isn't it also happening to me?
Another issue that I am facing with the 32-bit version regards the installation of the software "HP Smart Web Printing 3.5" that comes bundled with the software and driver available at HP Website, also either with Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7. The 64-bit version doesn't come with such software.
During the installation a message appears telling me that it cannot find the file "\Setup\HPZmsi01.exe" in the setup folder and the installation ends abruptly. However, I already took a look at the setup folder and the file is really present there. How can I get rid of such error when there is no reason for it to appear?
I look forward to hearing from you.
Thank you very much for all the attention given.

I tried the suggested solution but still am not able to access Scan options on the HP 6310 printer. I unistalled and then re-installed as suggested. Any other ideas?

I tried re-installing the latest software for the OfficeJet 6310 (after first deleteing the printer and uninstalling software), but got back to the same spot and problem - that I can print with a wireless connection but cannot scan. The HP network utility finds the 6310 device just fine, but somehow there does not seem to be a wireless connection to the scanning feature. And oddly I cannot scan manually using the 6310 itself. I can't get past the first question it asks about 'scan to what computer?".
Can anyone help?
