Win7 x64 installing a Officejet 6500A PLUS. Cannot print

Win7 x64 installing a Officejet 6500A PLUS. Printer is connected to the wireless network just fine. Win7 x64 computer can ping and see the printer on the network.

Get an error message everytime I try to print saying 'it cannot connect to the printer'.

Same computer can connect to the printer and see and change the settings wirelessly just fine.

I'm guessing this is a problem with Win7 x64. I need to fix for this before I decide to take it back to Costco and exchange it for the Canon I almost bough instead. HP you have always had driver issues, but still? Really!?

Ran HP Print Diagnostic Utility 4.1. Everything passes in Green colors, still unable to print.

Re: Win7 x64 installing a Officejet 6500A PLUS. Cannot print

Ok finally got the thing to print, now the scanner won't detect at all and since no one from HP seems to be able to help I will be returning it for the Canon I looked at. Thanks anyways HP but I will not be buying another one of your printers ever, and as a computer tech I will not be recommending your product to my customers.

Re: Win7 x64 installing a Officejet 6500A PLUS. Cannot print

Took the crappy HP back. Picked up a Canon PIXMA MX882 instead. Flawless installation, in 10 min I was printing, scanning, faxing wirelessly with not a single issue.

I am VERY disapointed with the HP drivers and it's incompatibility with Win7 x64. Don't advertise that your crappy software is compatible when it is not! I wasted hours of my own personal time trying to get the HP to work then more time taking the piece of crap back (I really like the hardware of the printer - software 'come on guys really???'). I will never purchase another HP printer. And the wireless setup on the Canon was WAY easier. One button called easy set up on the printer and BAM done. **bleep** HP, **bleep** indeed.
