Windows XP Pro will not connect to 6500A (ethernet only) printer

I have printer working for Win 7, Ubuntu 10 & Mint 10 but after running HP wizard on the XP machine it will not see printer. I have tried connecting via printer IP and host name using advanced box. I can ping the printer address from the XP box and all shares to and from the XP box work fine.

Any thoughts?

Yes I ran the utility and it checked out fine. Printer was listed

OK, does your anitvirus software have a firewall?  Disable it and test again.  Make sure WIndows is updated and that you have the latest HP software.

 

Get the latest software, firmware, manuals, etc. for your printer from the "Support & Drivers" link at the top of this page.

I uninstalled the HP software on the XP box and also re-ran the network wizard for the printer and got a new IP address. Re-installed the HP on the XP box and BINGO.
