Wireless Printing Problems - HP Photosmart Premium Web C309n

I hoping someone can help me with some printing issues I am currently having with my C309n.

When trying to print via my web browser (Firefox 3.5.7), the printer stalls while trying to respond, and when it does begin to print, it moves incredibly slow. I had the same problem when I first set up the machine when trying to print photos, but that issue seems to have resolved itself (I did nothing in particular; one day it just worked). I have no problem printing from programs such as Word, PowerPoint, etc.

The web printing issue still remains and I was hoping that someone could confirm that I have used the optimal wireless/set up settings before I start changing things in an attempt to solve my current problem. Also, of course, if anyone is aware of a quick fix for my printing issue, I would appreciate it.

Computer OS: Windows 7 x64 Professional

Anti-Virus: Norton 360 Premier

Connection: Wireless

Type: Automatic DHCP

Port: 9100

Router: Linksys Wireless-N Gigabit Router (WRT310N)

Firmware: v1.001

Settings of Router are as follows:

- Network Mode: Mixed (a, b, g, n)

- Security: WPA2 Personal

- Encryption: AES

- Radio Band/Wide Channel/Standard Channel: Auto

Also, I apologize if I provided too much info; just wanted to make sure I covered everything. Thanks in advance for any help.

Great job on the info.  I don't even have to ask any questions about your equipment!!

Let's start with the basics:

Have you tried a printer and router reboot?

Turn off the printer, unplug power from the back of it.

Unplug router, wait 15 seconds, plug back in.

Finally, plug in the printer and retest.

Thanks for the quick reply, but I've already tried the basic reboot fix. I've unpluged the printer and then restarted it, unplugged the lot of my Internet connections (cable modem, router, etc), and restarted my computer. Though I remain able to print from Word and from files on my computer, printing from my Firefox browser still remains an issue.

OK, have you tried to uninstall and re-load Firefox (or try Google Chrome)?

Who is your ISP?  By chance, are you running an ADSL connection to the internet?

I am having the same problem:  I just bought and installed the HP Photosmart TouchSmart Web etc., Model C309n Printer

and am trying to print from a new Windows 7 computer with Firefox V 3.5.7.  I cannot print anything from the web, including simple webmail emails, although I could with 2 other printers.

My installation materials included a 1 page note that stated in 5 languages "The HP Smart Web Printing application is not supported in the Firefox web browser".

I thought that meant that I could not do anything fancy with smart web printing.  I did not think it meant that I could not print at all.  I do not like being forced to use Internet Explorer.  Has anyone come up with a work-around?  Can I disable "smart" web printing and go back to "simple" web printing?  Is there any way we could induce HP to enable printing when using Firefox?

I have a couple of questions:

1) Can you open the printer's internal web page by browsing to it's IP address?

2) Can you print from IE?

Sorry for the delay...I was going to reload Firefox, but then I heard that 3.6 was coming out shortly, so I held off.

After the reload I was able to print...but it still seems to be delayed a bit. Granted it's nothing like before, but I had no problems with Firefox on my previous HP printer (Photosmart C4385). Even when I switched to Windows 7, I didn't have the delay that I do with my new C309n.

Is the delay just with printing from Firefox or is there a delay in other applications?

Also, how long is your delay?  For example, I have an approximate 15 second delay from clicking on the print button to when I hear my Officejet Pro 8500 prototype pick up the paper.

I'm also having slow print issues on the HP Photosmart Prem-Web C309n-s.

The issue happens in multiple applications, such as printing a photo from HP Photosmart Essentials 3.5, printing an email from Internet Explorer 8, etc.  I am running Windows Vista Ultimate 64-bit with Service Pack 2.

Also, noteable is that it happens on 2 PCs.  Same model purchased at the same time.  The issue seems intermittant and it seems to affect my wife's PC more than mine.  It may just be that she prints more???

I did not think it was a networking issue, but both my PC and printer are wireless.  I will direct my PC and see if the issue goes away.

My wife prints all her own photos and scrapbooks.  She is extremely frustrated and wants it out of the house.  I'm going to contact HP Support tonight.  If they cannot fix it in a reasonable time, I'm going to try and return it.

It also seems to rip through XL ink cartridges faster than any HP printer we have had.
