Re: Wireless install for C4580

What does the new screen show? 'Turn power off, then on'?

Re: Wireless install for C4580

I've seen this, where the printer JUST doesnt give enough time to update the firmware or do ANYTHING! I suggest you call HP and get it replaced, or if it's been 1 or 2 weeks since you bought the printer, then return it to the store, get it exchanged with a new one, and update the firmware at the store itself before getting it home.

Re: Wireless install for C4580

This is a very good printer. Very compact, and very good print quality. That why I suggest that you "test" the printer in the store, and install the firmware using a test computer or so in the store itself so that you won't have the problem at home.

Re: Wireless install for C4580

Very good - gald you are a loyal employee.  I have used HP products for many years, but if this is a problem product then I need to reconsider. The Forum posts suggest a lot of people have set-up problems with this model

Thanks again

Re: Wireless install for C4580

I'm sure online products have return policies. If they can't help, then call HP and get them to replace it.

First of all, HP has released a firmware update to address the issue of the printer becoming unresponsive when it goes into sleep mode. You can search for it using the Support & Drivers link above.

Also, have you tried restoring the network defaults on the printer and THEN trying to connect it wirelessly? I suggest you do this first, so press the wireless button, and select that option.

Hi, I have the unresponsive problem with my C4580, but I have a Mac. The firmware update seems to only be for Windows computers. Why won't HP release a version that works from Macs?

Re: Wireless install for C4580

I do not have any explaination as to why HP only developed the firmware update application for Windows. What you can do is you can temporarily connect the printer to a Windows PC, then update the firmware of the printer, and then use it with your Mac again.

Re: Wireless install for C4580

I have tried several times to intall this printer without success.  The Firmware I downloaded did not work so I have decided to return the printer. Hope I have better luck with the next one.

Thanks for trying
