c309 - no bars at all (lost wireless communication)!

[ Edited ]

Hi.  I have a c309g-m, and it has been working just fine wirelessly for a while.  Now, all of a sudden, the wireless function has ceased to work.  It shows no bars on the printer interface and cannot find any wireless routers.

The wireless router in my apartment is working fine.  I reset the wireless setting on the printer to factory defaults, and then after that did nothing, I set the printer to factory defaults (no dice).  According to the printer, the Wireless Radio is on.  I unplugged it and left it overnight, plugged it in again, and no luck.  When I use the Wireless Setup Wizard, it searches and searches and now doesn't find anything.  In the past it would not only find my network, but a few of my neighbors' too.

Anyone have any ideas how I can solve this?

Thanks

Steve

Print a Wireless Network Test from the front of the printer (Network menu).  What does it report about the wireless radio?

Re: c309 - no bars at all (lost wireless communication)!

Thank you.

Ran the test.

It says:

Wireless ON - PASS

Wireless Working - FAIL

are there any other results that you would like me to post?

Thanks.

No, that's it.  Your wireless radio has died, sorry.  There is no practical way of fixing it, sorry.

Re: c309 - no bars at all (lost wireless communication)!

Unless its under warranty its not worth fixing.  You would spend more than just buying a new printer.  The Ethernet port is still useful on it (likely).  You could just plug it into the back of your wireless router and get the same functionality as wireless.

Re: c309 - no bars at all (lost wireless communication)!

Thanks so much, setting it up as a networked printer through ethernet worked!

For those who may need to go this route.....On the main pc that is hooked directly into the router, I had to uninstall the printer software first before I could make it work....took me quite a while to figure that out.

Regards,
