Well I guess my wireless radio has died.Thought I had it fixed but its down again and only works with direct wire. I heard about plugging the printer into my router with an Ethernet cable and get the same functionality as wireless for my laptops. Does anyone have a step by step as to how to do this. thanks

cookoo,
You should be able to connect printer to you router with an ethernet cable and go.
Some things that can go wrong
- The printer might get a different IP address and the software might not see it
Reinstalling the printer driver should fix this
- The router might have two separate networks (one wired and one wireless) and the laptop might not see the printer in the wired network (not very likely)
This can be resolved with router settings
Let me know how it goes.

Best thing to do is just try to print. If the Macbook finds the printer all is well. If not you can delete and readd the printer. This is a Mac so it should be easy. ![]()

Thanks for your prompt response Treefrog! ![]()
I tried to print but It didn't find anything. I deleted and I tried to re-add using my MacBook air (192.168.1.70), I didn't find the printer which is connected to my network (192.168.15.2).
The question, how can I re-intall the drivers if the MacBook air doesn't find the printer?. I made a test, I used the IP above for the printer (this information came from the HP configuration page) and the webpage never opened.

It looks like the printer and MacBook are on different networks 192.168.1 and 192.168.15 - the 1 and the 15 tell me they are on different networks. Your router usually creates the networks. There might be a way to bridge them. what brand and model router do you have?

Using At&t router (2wire), How can I put both in the same network?
I tried to change the IP in the printer in advaced option; I put xxx.xxx.1.252 then I went to the MBA, system requirements, add a printer, IP tab, and I used the new printer IP address and the MBA didn't find the printer. I tried to open the webpage with the new printer IP and I didnt open as well.
This printer is driving me crazy !

Sorry things are not working yet.
I haven't found any good informaiton on the web about configuring the 2-wire router.
Do you have the ability to also connect the MBA to the router with an ethernet cable? At least then we would know ethernet works on the router and printer adn that communication from the MBA is possible.
P.S. How did you get the wireless to work on the printer the last time?

I checked in my router all the devices connected and I found out the printer was not listed/connected even when the printer said it was; based on this I strongly believe the ethernet doesn't work in this faulty printer !

Sorry for the slow reply. I have been unavailable for the last four days chaperoning a high school marching band trip.
Have you tried resetting the network settings on the printer?
That is different from resetting the other settings. Go to the network menu and find the entry to reset the network settings. There might be some residual settings around IP addresses and restore defaults (of whatever the menu says) will clean things up. I"m still concerned about the big differences in the IP address between the printer and computer. It might be that the printers IP address is not getting updated be the router.
