cannot configure photosmart c4580 to connect to my wireless network

Moved, left my wireless network behind...new network, new home...can't get my printer online

Using a Mac, OS 10.7.3

Fired up the HP Setup Assistant from the hard drive and was doing well, except when it came to entering the Network SSID.  When I gave it my SSID, the assistant told me to connect the printer temporarily with the USB cable...I had it connected...I disconnected, reconnected to no avail.  I cycled the power on the printer, no change...I disconnected everything...closed the assistant and started over, I still get hung up in the same spot...

I can print via USB cable, but that's not what I want...

Love to have some help with this issue...

OK, well, tell me about your new network.  What router?  What kind of encryption?

I'm having similar problems.

My printer  (C4580) has happily been working on my wireless network for some time  but now won't connect. I can't even print a test page. On running the diagnostic summary  it shows that the SSID is not there. I'm not sure how to re set it up. The router is  Huawei echo Lite HG552. The security is WPA2 and the encryption AES.

Any help would be appreciated

Try to re-install the printer using the HP software.  Let me know what operating system you are using and I can help.

using an AT&T router supplied with my UVerse with WPA2 encryption...

If that does not work, change your encryption from WPA2 to WPA.

Been out of town for a couple of weeks...

Back at it this morning...

the suggestions are great, thanks, but they've been of no help...

I cannot find the method of talking to my printer and telling it about the new wireless network...

Once again this morning, I get the HP setup assistant to finally allow me to configre the wireless network settings on the printer...but once again, when I get the box to enter the network SSID, I get a message telling me the printer isn't connected, to temporarily connect it via USB cable...did that...THIS is my stumbling point...all my other devices see and use my network just fine so the suggestion to reset my router seems off...

Need to know how to talk to my printer....

What kind of encryption does the router use (WEP, WPA, etc)?

WPA

not sure how that information has any impact on the fact that the HP software doesn't detect that the printer is connected via USB...still somewhat open minded though as I really miss my wireless connectivity!

Try this:

- Unplug the phone cord from the back of the Uverse router.  

- Unplug its power cord momentarily and plug back in.

- Setup the printer without the phone cord being connected.

- When the printer connects, plug the phone cord back in and restart the router once more by pulling its power plug momentarily.
