Hi.

I am trying to install a hp deskjet 3051A wireless printer onto my laptop.  I am using Windows 7.  I have been able to connect it to use with an USB but I can not get it to connect with the wireless.  I have followed all of the instructions in the manual, unplugged everything and plugged it back, checked to make sure my firewall was not blocking it, everything it told me to do but I still can not get it to print with wireless.  The only thing that I was unsure of and know nothing about was the part where it asked me to check my router.  It told me to check my default gateway.  The only thing after my default gateway was two colons (:.  There were no numbers or words.  I do not know anything about this so I am not sure.  Could this be a reason for it not connecting or is there something else?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

OK, on the front of the priner, click the wireless button then navigate to "Restore Wireless Defaults" and execute it.

Now, within an hour of doing this, run the HP software again.  Make sure your antivirus and any other 3rd party firewalls, anti-spyware, etc. are RUNNING during the time the HP software is running.

What router?  Is the blue wireless light blinking on the front of the printer?  What operating system?

The router is a NETGEAR wireless-G Router WGR614v10.  Operating on Windows 7.  Yes, the blue light is blinking on front of the printer.

OK, great, thanks.  First, restart the router by pulling its power plug, then restart the printer by turning it off an back on again.

Now, check to see if the router has updated firmware.  Type 192.168.0.1 into a web browser's address bar.  The login to the router is 'admin' and the password is 'password' (as defaults, but maybe it has been changed?).  The router should check the state of its own firmware at that point.

If you have an antivirus program on your PC, does it have a firewall associatted with it?  What antivirus do you use?  Windows firewall is almost never a problem, by the way.

I restarted the router as well as the printer.  When I type 192.168.0.1 into a web brower, nothing comes up for me to login. 

I have McAfee anti-virus and yes, I do have a firewall.

Oh, my mistake, its 192.168.1.1

Typed this in as well and it does the same as the other number.  It does not bring me to a login page.  It only brings up internet search results. 

As I mentioned in a previous post the manual that I received with the printer instructed me to go under "accessories" and from there go under command prompt and type "ipconfig".  I did this and the only thing beside default gateway was two colons.  There were no number. I don't know if this has anything to do with it because I know nothing about it.

Oh, don't type it in a search bar (like Bing or Google), type it where you would direclty enter a URL - the address bar.

I assume you can get to the Internet on your PC, right?
