iPad and iPhone won't print to my HP 5514 eAIO B111h

I have an iMac running os 10.7.4 and was able to set up wireless printing to the HP5514. I am unable to print from my iPhone 4s (os 5.1.1) or iPad 2(os 5.1.1). My router is a Zytel PK5000Z wireless is WPA Personnal 802.11b and 802.11g. Centurylink claims the router/modem are compatible. When I try and print from my iPhone or iPad under print option, it says No Airprint Printers found. Any suggestions?

Restart the router by pulling its power cord momentarily.

Have you enabled Web Services on the front of the printer?

Restarting the router made no difference. I went through and set up ePrint. I am able to send an email from my iPhone to the printer but I am still unable to use Airprint feature.

Re: iPad and iPhone won't print to my HP 5514 eAIO B111h

Let's set a static IP address and, most importanlty an external DNS for the printer:

- Print a Network Config Page from the front of the printer. Note the printer's IP address.
- Type that IP address into a browser to reveal the printer's internal settings.
- Choose the Networking tab, then Wireless along the left side, then the IPv4 tab.
- On this screen you want to set a Manual IP. You need to set an IP address outside the range that the router automatically sets (called the DHCP range). If you do not know the range, change the last set of numbers (those after the last '.') to 250
- Use 255.255.255.0 for the subnet (unless you know it is different, if so, use that)
- Enter your router's IP (on the Network Config Page) for the gateway.
- Enter 8.8.8.8 for the first DNS and 8.8.4.4 for the second DNS. This is Google DNS. You can choose another external DNS if you wish.
- Click 'Apply'.

Now, shut down the router and printer, start the router, wait, then start the printer.

After this you may need to redo 'Add a Printer' using the new IP address.

Re: iPad and iPhone won't print to my HP 5514 eAIO B111h

I was able to navigate to the screen you mentioned. The steps were a bit different. In case someone else wants to try this, Network Tab, left side Networking, then Network Address, select Manual IP. Using the "Suggest a Manual IP Address" button came up with the same thing you suggested and filled in all the data for me. I set the DNS Server as suggested.  Power cycled as you suggested. It worked once from my iPhone. I then went to the iPad. It saw the printer, tried to print and then said the printer was offline. Back to the iPhone and the printer is no longer there. Thought we had it. Back to square one.

I really think its your router.  Can you get into its settings to see if it supports Bonjour (more likely called mDNS)?

Re: iPad and iPhone won't print to my HP 5514 eAIO B111h

This has been my suspicions from the beginning. Centurylink Service claimed that this modem/router was compatible when I asked them if it supported mDNS. I purchased an AirPort Extreme and fired it up today. All devices had access to the printer and work just fine.

Bottom Line - The Zytel PK5000Z  (router section) was the problem.
