losing airprint connection

When i want to use airprint from my ipad to my HP photsmart 6510, i always have to shutdown en restart the printer before i can get connection. Somehow it seems to lose this connection. Wireless printing is never a problem from my laptop.

Does anyone know what to do.

Re: losing airprint connection

Let's set a static IP address  and external DNS for the printer:

- Print a Network Config Page from the front of the printer. Note the printer's IP address.
- Type that IP address into a browser to reveal the printer's internal settings.
- Choose the Networking tab, then Wireless along the left side, then the IPv4 tab.
- On this screen you want to set a Manual IP. You need to set an IP address outside the range that the router automatically sets (called the DHCP range). If you do not know the range, change the last set of numbers (those after the last '.') to 250
- Use 255.255.255.0 for the subnet (unless you know it is different, if so, use that)
- Enter your router's IP (on the Network Config Page) for the gateway.
- Enter 8.8.8.8 for the first DNS and 8.8.4.4 for the second DNS.
- Click 'Apply'.

Now, shut down the router and printer, start the router, wait, then start the printer.

After this you may need to redo 'Add a Printer' using the new IP address.

Re: losing airprint connection

Yup.  What router are you using? Is its firmware updated?  Does the printer have a strong wireless signal?

Re: losing airprint connection

Hi Pato48,

I see that your iPad has stopping working with your printer.  I have a couple of questions for you.

Is your printer still connected to your network?

Can you print from your computer to the printer?

What error message do you get when you try to print from your iPad to your printer?

Re: losing airprint connection

Pato48,

I see that you're having problems printing from your iPad to your printer.  I would try the steps below.

1.  Unplug printer and router for one minute.

2.  Power down your iPad.

3.  Plug router back up.

4.  Wait another minute plug printer back up.

5.  Turn iPad back on.

6.  Attempt to print again.

Let me know how it goes.
