My Officejet 8000 wireless was working fine until I added a Apple Airport Express to my Airpoty/Time Capsule-based network. I uninstalled the HP software, downloaded the installer for OS Snow Leopard (current version on MacBook), installed. The installer recognizes the two parts of my network, both with high signal strength. When I select the network and click Continue, I get a message "the selected Wi-Fi network (my network) is not within reach of the device." (Change Network/Retry)
Of course it is.
I have tried rebooting the Airport/ Time Capsule, but I cannot get by this message. I can print by plugging into the USB, but with a corporate laptop, MacBook, Asus tablet, and desktop on the wireless, it's a big pain.
Any help will be much appreciated!

Is the printer connected wirelessly to the Express or the Time Capsule (which is it closer to)?
How is the Express configured? It the Express settings, in the Wireless tab, is the Wireless Mode set to Extend a Wireless Network? If not, try that. and make sure that the 'Allow wireless clients' box is checked.

The time capsule is three away. The Express is about 50 feet away. The Express is set to allow wireless clients. MAC filtering is off.

OK, so it is attache to the Time Capsule. What wireless mode is the Express set to (see above)? What 2.4 GHz channel are the Time Capsule and Express using? Try changing the Time Capsule to 11 and the Express to 1.

The Express is in Extend mode and the Time Capsule is in Create mode. Both are using channel 7 (Auto). Do you still want me to change the channels?

Yup, change the channel on the Time Capsule to 11. I believe the Express will just join whatever channel its base station is on (the Time Capsule) and you can't change it in the "Extend" mode.
I assume both have a green light?
If that does not work, uplug the Express from the wall, install the printer, then plug in the Express.

The last part of the solution did the trick. I suspect the utility, which does a lookup by network name, was looping (which is what it did the first time I tried this solution). So, I disconnected the Express, completed the setup assistant, plugged the Express back in, confirmed it was working, unplugged the printer USB, then printed a test page.
Voila!
Thanks for your help!
