officejet 6500 offline when logged into vpn on xp pro system.

I have an Officejet 6500 E709a all-in-one on my home network (wired). All of my machines are running Windows XP professional, and all of my connections are running through a Tbase 10/100 switch. I use a laptop for my work and when I connect to VPN my network printer goes offline, and comes back online when I disconnect from VPN. I remember from a previous update issue that there was a way to change the port assignment, but cannot remember how. I think there a newtork port conflict between my printer and VPN. How can I correct this conflict?

Many VPN clients hide the local network once the VPN is established.  That is to protect the local network (or the remote one). check with your work IT to see if there is a way to allow the VPN to see your local network and the printer attached.

Thanks. Sure enough, I would have to add my printer to my work's network in order to print while connected to VPN. Thanks for the help.
