I have an HP Pavilion DV6 notebook running Win7 - I have an HP photosmart 380 printer which works fine with a cable. However, trying to connect the bluetooth device BT400 (Q6399A) which came with the printer doesn't work. The installation fails when looking for an HP Photosmart 380 series_BT driver.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated...

hey there ajzendra. Are you plugging the bluetooth adapter into your computer or the actual printer? It needs to be connected to the printer. Here is a troubleshooting document that should get you up and running.

Hi Sean, thanks for the reply, I have gone through the set up as you suggested several times but it seems that the iphone and printer do not want recognise each other. The phone indicates searching for device, the bluetooth attachment is blinking and time is passing, no connact.

Thanks Sean I appreciate your efforts but still think HP specialists should be assigned to the forum on a rotation basis even used for graduate engineers/trainees to gain more experience. I am an AIX specialist and this is a route that IBM took with their Information Centres.
As I said I have an issue only in that adding the printer it is searching for an "HP Photosmart 380 series_BT" driver. Which is the only reason that the device won't work.
Also don't take offence as I wasn't having a go at you but at HP.
And additionally, as it's now a month since I posted this issue and I'm nowhere near an answer even if the issue is obsolete due to the hardware and software versions windows 7. This is not new as I was really disgusted by HP who upgraded me to the DV6 and Windows 7 due to an unrepairable problem with the laptop and made my printer and scanner redundant as they weren't supported by the 64 bit technology.
So it doesn't surprise me that there is no suitable driver.

Anthony

Old topic, but still not solved...
I have the save issue for both problem, but with a more recent adapter bt400 (Q6399A)
- on awith a Windows 7, 32 bit. So it is not an architecture issue.
It's really a pity that the printer can only work with an wire to the device.
==> HPPhotosmart 800 series_BT , not driver found, neither on laptop, neither on Windows Update
- on a iPhone 4S: can not detect the printer... BT adapter blinking, but no negociation.
And the two documents are unfotyunately useless :-( very basic troubleshooting...
Really no clue ? or Solution ?
Regards
