Re: "HP Solution Center cannot run because your device installation is not complete"

@jmadams74

Isuggest you to uninstall the software and reinstall it. Make sure that the USB cable is disconnected from back of the computer before you start the uninstallation process and connect the printer only when prompted by the software during installation.

USB0001 is generally selected. If this is not there then we can select DOT4. Once the software installation is completed successfully, goto Services and change the Startup type to Manual for HP CUE Device Discovery.

Re: "HP Solution Center cannot run because your device installation is not complete"

Uninstalled using l3, cleaned hp files, temp files and registry of all hp related stuff. uninstalled Norton as someone suggested (not just turn it off). reinstalled and same result, fatal error at the last step. printer works fine, Solution center give the cannot run because. . ..message.

Looking at the fatal error it goes:

LaunchApp (x:\hpqtra08.exe -shutdown, 10000000,0000000) failed with 2

Error opening Key HKLM\Software\Hewlett-Packard\Install\{58D79E62-CFC8-4331-8469-3A1B16E1769C}, error=2

Timed out waiting for product finish event

Exit Code = 1

Then a whole bunch of other lines. . .

I went and looked at the referenced Key in the registry and noted it had two entries on the right side: Type: REG-SZ  Data: (value not set); thenit had another entry just specifying the source directory.

Is the Data: (value not set) a problem??

I'm about ready to return the printer at this point. . .

Thanks for your help again.

First check if HP Digital Imaging icon is running in the system tray (system clock) the icon has white check mark with green color. If it is there, then right click on it and select close. Disconnect the USB cable from back of the computer USB port.

Then goto C:/Program Files/HP or Hewlett Packard/Digital Imaging/bin folder. Here look for the file "hpqtra08" (application file) and double click it. Wait for 2-3 min and the icon should reappear in the system tray.

Now insert the CD and select "Add a Device" or goto Start ==> All Programs ==> HP==> printer model ==>Add a device

Select USB and proceed with the instructions, Make sure that the printer is turned ON.

Re: "HP Solution Center cannot run because your device installation is not complete"

OK. . .progress. I figured out that the error=2 at the end of the key had something to do with permissions. I went in the registry and even though I was running as administrator, i changed the user permissions, and everything loaded!!!

Now Solution Center works, everything works except scanning. I get the message "A required component was not found or was improperly installed. Reinstall the HP Photosmart software that came with the device and try scanning again." My device is an HP 6500 E709a All in One. There is no Photosmart software, but I tried reloading everything. I ran the newest HP scanner diagnostics and it is dying on the Twain scanner step (no clear instructions what to do about it). I'm guessing I have a conflict with other twain devices on my system that I need and use (cannon scanner, kodak camera stuff, etc.). I have no idea how to isolate and identify/fix the problem. It seems ridiculous the HP software doesn't do all of this as it installs! Please help if you can. . .Thank you!

Re: "HP Solution Center cannot run because your device installation is not complete"

Hi,

Good going.

First close HP Solution Center then you need open CD contents and open the Setup folder. Here,

1) Open "Scan" folder and right click on scan.msi file (windows installer package) and click on Repair. If any error appears again right click and click on "Install"

2) Open "Destinations" folder. Right click on destinations.msi file and click on Repair. If any error appears again right click and click on "Install"

3) Open "BPD_SCAN" folder and follow the same procedure.

One or more folders may not exist, so do not worry.

Restart the computer and check the status.

Re: "HP Solution Center cannot run because your device installation is not complete"

When I try to repair the bpd_scan.msi file it says the feature is on a cd or removable disk that is not available. I am running all of this on my hard drive where I downloaded all the most current package (14) from HP. Are the files I need for this somewhere else?

Re: "HP Solution Center cannot run because your device installation is not complete"

What happens if you right click on bpd_scan.msi and click on Install. Do you get any error. Most of the times when we select install a window will appear and disappears quickly. Then restart the computer and check the result.

Re: "HP Solution Center cannot run because your device installation is not complete"

Click on Start ==> All Programs ==> Accessories==> Right click on "Command Prompt" and select "Run as Administrator". When the command prompt opens, type the following command and press Enter:

regsvr32 C:\Program Files\HP\Digital Imaging\bin\hpqebpd2.dll

Note: there is space between "regsvr32" and "C:\Program......"

Re: "HP Solution Center cannot run because your device installation is not complete"

After I type "regsvr32 C:\Program Files\HP\Digital Imaging\bin\hpqebpd2.dll and hit enter it says: The module "c:\program" failed to load. Make sure that the binary is stored at the specified path or debug it to check for problems with the binary or dependent .dll files. The specified module could not be found.

I'm guessing there is something wrong with my syntax, but haven't figured it out yet. I did a copy & paste from your post and tried retyping it as well.
