These steps posted by Praveen_David on page 3 fixed the problem for me on windows 7 64 bit
1) First make sure that you are able to print and scan using MS Paint (For Network printers, try scan from printer webpage which can be opened using printer IP)
2) click on Start ==> All Programs ==> HP ==> Printer model name ==> Add a device. Complete the installation process
Note: For USB connected printer, first disconnect the USB cable from computer and perform "Add a Device"
After performing above steps if the HP Solution Center works, perform below steps:
1) Click on Start ==> Run ==> type services.msc and click OK. For Vista and Windows 7, click on Windows icon ==> In Search box type, services.msc and press Enter.
2) Look for the option, "HP CUE Device Discovery". Change the "Startup type" to "Manual".

I have uninstalled and reinstalled my HP Photosmart D110 printer, which was running OK, but not perfectly before and the HP Solution Center was fine. Now, the printer will print fine - both wireless and cable connected - but the Solution Center states that the installation was not completed, so the Solution Center won't open - HELP! I have tried reinstalling the printer and the Solution Center several times already. I am running Windows 7 and my printer is not showing in my add/delete programs listing, but it does show in my devices and printers because it will print.

HP Solution Center now works off of ( HP photosmart Essential 3.0 ). When you loaded the cd that came with the printer you should have 3 new Icons 1. hp solution center 2. hp photosmart essential 3.0 3. Shop for hp supplies.Click on hp photosmart essential 3.0--you will see-- latest photos veiw library---click on veiw library---turn on printer--click Import Photos---click on device you want to use and the old HP Solution Center screen will appear. I have a hpc4435 all-in-one and when the solution center quit working I could not scan---this fix it after trying everything else for the last 2 month.

Solution box appears. If you try to use it you get message that it is not in its folder. Must hit cancel on several boxes before boxes leave. Printer woks fine.

I was suffering from this across 2 laptops running windows 7 and pc running vista. I tried uninstalling and re-installing and this in itself had no effect. This was not the cure anyway. I recalled that I had reset up my network and so my HP network printer no loger worked (the ip address had failed as it was a dedicated IP setup by my router).
I found that the problem was occuring because I had used windows to set up the printer using add printer, rather than using HP add device. I deleted the printer using windows and then added the printer using HP add device. The software failed to pick up the printer automatically but when I said search for the IP address it worked OK.
So just make sure you add your devices using HP add device rather than let windows do it.

I need some help with this too. I have Windows Vista on a ThinkPad and downloaded the HP Photosmart Premium C309 g-m to install.
But the HP Solution Center will NOT work, the error message is exactly as this threads title.
And so I have no way to SCAN.
Advise please?
Patricia
