C7280 All in One
WINDOWS XP PRO
using Wireless Router
Can print and receive ink levels; but, can not acces scan features due to "Disconnected" message.
Is there a link to resolve the issue?
Is this a 2 way communication problem?

I'd run the Network Diagnostic Utility (NDU) and check the communication. If it shows that there's a problem, try turning off your firewall and rerun the NDU. Then try running a scan.
Who is your ISP? Sometimes your ISP runs a firewall that updates and you know nothing about it and it can block scanning.
What are the make/model of your router? Like some ISPs, some routers have a built in firewall.
Here is a link for a document that lists the ports that need to be opened. They are listed in Solution 6-->Network-->Method 2.
If I have solved your issue, please feel free to provide kudos and make sure you mark this thread as solution provided!
Although I work for HP, my posts and replies are my own opinion and not those of HP

Hi,
Try using the Network Diagnostic Utility I linked below. It might be able to find the cause of the issue.

Hello.
I downloaded the diagnostic Utility, and it did verify that there was a communication problem. I resolved the issue by once again "uninstalling" the HP software, restarting the computer, and reinstalling the HP Printer Software. This time I made sure that the printer was set up with a "WAP/WEP" password for use with a secure connection and encrypted communication with my wireless router (whereas it had been with an unsecured [open] channel of communication). Everything appears to be working correctly now. Thanks to those who took the time to provide a response for a solution! The diagnostic utility helped me to quickly narrow down the trouble area, and confirmed my suspicions about a 2 way communication problem. I believe the problem is now resolved.
