trouble connecting PSC 2510 to WPA protected network

Hi, I have a PSC 2510 that I'm trying to connect to my wireless router for printing. I accessed the embedded web server in my after connecting directly to the printer (I have done both via the hp_setup wifi network and directly via ethernet cable) and go to advanced mode, inputting my network name and 10-digit WPA password after selected EAP/WPA. I then save the configuration, but when I print out the network configuration page, it will say wireless status: "Scanning" with the correct SSID name but apparently it thinks it can't find the network (the router is just a few feet away). This always worked before I bought a new router, and the router works great connected to any device besides this PSC 2510.

Please let me know some troubleshooting solutions - thanks!

Re: trouble connecting PSC 2510 to WPA protected network

What kind of router and ISP?

Make sure that there are no other connections, especially Ethernet, when testing the wireless connection.

Re: trouble connecting PSC 2510 to WPA protected network

It's a Netgear combined router/modem that my ISP (Charter Cable) gave to me. FYI the kind of network security I am using is: WPA-PSK(Wi-Fi Protected Access Pre-Shared Key).  Is this compatible with the PSC 2510's "EAP/PSK" wireless security setting or is there some other security setting I should be using through the internal server?

Re: trouble connecting PSC 2510 to WPA protected network

OK, let's run a WIreless Test Page from the front panel of the printer and see what it says.  The radio in your printer may be bad or hung up.

Based on what it says we may want to reset the wireless system in the printer:

To restore wireless defaults:

1 Access the Network menu on the front panel of the printer.

2 Press 3 to select Restore Wireless Defaults from the Network menu.

3 Press OK.

Now try to connect the printer wirelessly again.

Re: trouble connecting PSC 2510 to WPA protected network

Yes, I actually tried resetting these settings, and it makes no difference. Printing DOES work in p2p mode (connecting to the printer's p2p hpsetup network), but that is not the ideal solution.

Re: trouble connecting PSC 2510 to WPA protected network

Did you run the Wireless Test from the front panel? That will tell us if the wireless radio is working properly (even if you have p2p operational, something else could be broken).

I am not sure how to run the Wireless Test. . . I do not see that option from the menus on my PSC 2510.

Re: trouble connecting PSC 2510 to WPA protected network

The PSC 2510 is one of our older wireless printers that only supports WPA-PSK w/TKIP.  Make sure your Netgear router is configured fo allow for WPA-PSK TKIP.

Refereing to the use's guide here, go to PDF page 25 (section 1-11) and select WPA-PSK (TKIP) or  WPA-PSK (TKIP) + WPA2-PSK (AES).

Re: trouble connecting PSC 2510 to WPA protected network

I guess its called a Network Config Test.  See page 76 of this.

Re: trouble connecting PSC 2510 to WPA protected network

I recently received a new Router which I'm using in a wireless WPA protected network. However I can not get my printer working. I was able to make it work wireless without any protection settings. But when I worked with the printer webbrowser tool and set the printer to the required WPA settings, it was not recognised by the router set in the WPA setting as well. My Router is a FRITZ!Box (Fon WLAN 7170 Annex A; latest firmware version 58.04.78).

Could anyone provide me some assistance here?

Thx
