unable to connect 3050 deskjet wirelessly

hi, trying to connect my deskjet 3050 wirelessly to my netbook. have installed drivers, infact the printer connects to my network, it just doesnt receive an IP address. can any1 advise me why? is it possible for me to assign an IP address manually, if so how?i have another leptop connected, 2 phones & ipod to my router, mac address filtering is not on. and i have entered the wireless key manually 3 times, just to be sure!

any help would be great!!

Same problem.  Using Verizon MIFI wireless router & Windows 7 on PC.

yes, i have the latest drivers/software from hp site taken 26th dec 2010. i am running xp, wpa secured network, AVG & Zonealarm, can print using usb but fails to connect wirelessly.

i have printed the report, which shows all successful and no errors. the only error i did see was that in my last post, IP address had failed to be assigned.

i have ran the cd in another laptop this morning (as my original entry had been against a netbook which didnt have a drive)same issue...

mac address filtering is off, ssid is being broadcast. all zonealarm & spybot requests for printer have been allowed.

disabling zonealarm fixes, what a lovely feature..so i can print but not with a firewall..as a temp measure i will disable ZA whenever i need to print, i have tried to add the printer to the allowed list but cannot be doing this correctly as it still blocks..i actually have to close down ZA....i guess ZA isnt something HP will assist me with, if anyone else has had a similar problem and can guide me with this pls get in touch!

solution > zonealarm > firewall tab>zones tab>add>subnet>ip address 192.168.1.0 >subnet 255.255.255.0>give item a description (anything at all)>ok>apply
