Re: why won't my laptop connect to my wireless printer

OK, thanks.  I assume you are trying to install the software?  If so, try the software from the "Support & Drivers" link at the top of this page instead of trying to use the (probably out of date) CD.

Tell me where in the process it is failing and what the error message is.  I need a lot more detail than you are providing in order to help.

Re: why won't my laptop connect to my wireless printer

You mentioned "it was fine before but now it won't print wirelessly". Does that mean you had the printer working with your laptop wirelessly and then it stopped? Or are you trying a new installation? If you have had your printer set up on your network already try to print a wireless test report:

1. Press the Wireless button on the front of the HP All-in-One.

2. Press the button next to the down arrow icon on the display until Wireless Network Test is

highlighted, and then press the button next to OK.

The Wireless Network Test prints.

Let us know the results.

annemrgan........They will need more information to be able to help you.  What problem are you having?  Is your printer an Officejet 6500 or 6500A? How long have you had your printer?  Did it ever work correctly?  IF so, when did it stop working correctly?  These guys are good to help. Hang on............GREG

Re: why won't my laptop connect to my wireless printer

I am having the same issue.  I have a dell and am running Windows Vista.  I just bought a hp deskjet 3050 all in one j610.  I can get the printer to go wireless, but the computer and my router which is a Westell model 7500, will not pick it up.  Have tried just about everything.  Get really frustrated. thanks.

Re: why won't my laptop connect to my wireless printer

angie,

Are you having trouble installing the printer for the first time?  If so, disconnect the DSL (phone) line from the back of the Westell, restart the Westell by momentarily pulling its power cord, let it restart, then try installing.

After the printer is installed, re-install the DSL line and restart the Westell again.

Re: why won't my laptop connect to my wireless printer

I have the same problem as Anne.  OfficeJet 6500 network printer, Windows Vista and Win 7 machines, I know the Win 7 machine is 64 bit, not sure about the Vista one.  Vista one is Toshiba and that computer will not print when I push the print button but when I reboot the computer, for some odd reason, it will then print the docs in the print queue.

My HP laptop prints to the HP printer just fine and is 64 bit.  I also tried connecting another Win 7 HP laptop last night to my printer and (although I hadn't troubleshooted much) it doesn't work either, I will get the driver on that machine to see if I can get it working.  I do have printer sharing on.

I'm confused why it works fine for some and others (mostly not HP machines) it doesn't.  Also, I have a question about drivers for a network printer?  Do you have to install drivers on every computer or is there a way to put a universal driver in the printer itself?  It seems you should be able to do that???

Thanks,

Cheryl
