Re: why won't my laptop connect to my wireless printer

I have a Dell Inspiron 1545 laptop and the HP Officejet 4500 Wireless printer.

Problem: When I try and connect to the wireless network it tells me that the WPA encryption on the wireless network is not supported by my printer. If I try and choose one of the other wireless networks I get an error message saying the two wireless networks are different

Re: why won't my laptop connect to my wireless printer

I have a HP Photosmart C4780 printer.I just recently switched my router and wi-fi to a stronger strength.  Now I am not able to reconnect the printer.  I was on the phone with someone from India for an hour yesterday and he didn't help.  I am very frustrated with this.

zfrichards,

What router are you using?  Are you using WPA2 encryption?

Re: why won't my laptop connect to my wireless printer

krivas69,

If you switched your router, do this:

1. On the printer: Setup [Scan] > Wireless > Restore Defaults.

2. On your PC, go to Start > All Programs > HP > C4700 > Add a Device.  Make sure there is not a USB cable connected to the printer when you start this process.  When it asks, choose to create a "Wireless" connection type.

Make sure the router has the latest firmware (yes, even if it is brand new).

What printer model?

What operating system?

Re: having issue getting my all in one pritner to print from lap top

It's been working until recently. It's an IP problem that is frustrating.

The printer is an Officejet 7500 E910, my computer runs on windows 7 64 bit.

The problem, from what I can tell is my computer no longer recognizes the printer's IP address. I have tried reinstalling the driver directly from the HP website. I've tried updating the IP address for the printer. I've reset the motem and the wireless router. I've done everything I could possibly think of to fix it. When I try to print something, a notification pops up and says:

"The print job could not be completed because the printer is unavailable or not connected. Check your cable or wireless connection, and make sure the printer is powered on and ready. If you installed this printer by IP address, then you might need to update the IP address. Use the Update IP Address item in the Start menu entry for this printer."

What can I do to slay this awful beast of an annoyance to fix the problem?
