Hi,

As long as the Printer is connected to your network, the installation should detect the netwok printer.

Please clarify how you are trying to install the printer (e.g by usind the original CD or web download)

As well, clarify your Mac OS X version to be sure you are using the correct installation source.

 

You may find your OS version by clicking the Apple icon, then click Abput This Mac
