Hey @jollyroger4,

Welcome to the HP Support Forums!

I understand that you are having some issues with printing from your Windows 10 PC to your Deskjet F2100 Printer. I can help you with that.

First, to close your other instance of the Print and Scan Doctor:

  1. Close all other programs you have open.
  2. Press Ctrl, Alt, and Del on your keyboard at the same time.
  3. Click on Start Task Manager.
  4. Click on the Applications tab.
  5. Click on the Print and Scan Doctor listed.
  6. Click on End Task.

If you are still unable to open the Print and Scan Doctor, click on the Processes tab and do the same with anything that has HP in the name.

This should allow you to run the Print and Scan Doctor and resolve your issues.

If you are still having issues please let me know what issue you are having and I should be able to assist you further. If this resolves your issue, please click on Accept Solution. If you appreciate my help, please click on the thumbs up icon. Both icons are below this post.

Thank you.  I have done that.

Now when I open HPP&SD I get to "communicating with your selected product" which goes on and on and does not complete and cannot be cancelled.

As a test, close the Print and Scan Doctor and remove the USB cable. While the cable is still removed, run the Print and Scan Doctor and let me know if it runs correctly.

As well, let me know what issue you are having with the printer.

The next thing to check would be that antivirus, firewall, and security software have been disabled. When they are disabled you should be able to run the Print and Scan Doctor.

I have the same problem: I clicked on "print a scan doctor" why keeping Window Task Manager open.

After some messages "extracting..." I am getting the screen: HP Print and Scan Doctor 5.1. On the WTM I see one instance of HP Pront and scan Doctor 5.1.

I click Start, Choose YOr product - Next and I am getting a message "The full software solution for your product is not installed on this computer". The recommendation is to click on "install software" button/ I still see only on version of HP Doctor in WTM. I click in "Install Software" , getting some message "Extracting" and in the WTN I see a new version of HP Dctor, this time withdifferent icon and without version number.

This PC is using McAfee antyvirus, but I have no idea how to stop it - in Services the button "Stop" is disabled.

So what is the sollution.

Thanks
