My (and my coworkers') laptops are on the same network as the printer in our office.  The printer is in working order with one of the nearby desktops but no one else can get printing from their own devices.  I have been able to successfully CommandPrompt ping the printer by both its "IPv4" address and "IP Default Gateway", and I have the 1600 series driver that was recommended by the HP website for this printer.

However, when I try to connect to the printer through "Add a Printer" using its IP and print a test page, I get the same problem every time.  Everything proceeds as it should, I select the appropriate driver, try to print a test page and then boom: status says that the page is "Printing" indefinitely, and it is also often impossible to cancel the job and remove the device and its respective port in printer settings.  The printer itself does not respond to any of the actions I have taken (except for returning packets during ping tests)

Hello, @licho_cortez – Hope you are well 🙂

Thank you for becoming an HP Forum member. It is a dynamite location to get help from the community, get suggestions and find what has worked for others.

I understand that you are having issues while installing the printer over the network. Appreciate your efforts so far. Good job on pinging the printer. That means that the printer is connected to the network and we should be able to fix this issue:)

Instead of using the “Add printer option, let’s start by installing the printer directly with the drivers.

Click on http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software13/COL32431/bi-80329-11/hp_LJP1100_P1560_P1600_Full_Solution-v... to download and install the printer drivers. In the connection page, select “Wireless” and continue with the on-screen instructions.

If the issue persists, go to control panel - programs and features - select the printer driver and uninstall them.

Then restart the computer, pause / stop the anti-virus / firewall and then click on the above link to install the printer.

Please let me know if this resolves the issue, or if you require further assistance.

Cheers 🙂
