Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I see there's issues with this printer and Windows 10 is causing the printer to stall  "offline".  I've done the huge upgrade to Windows 10 but this printer offline issue is still happening.  I use the printer through our cable wireless service through the router.  I also did a full download of the printer driver/software from HP's installation section.  Also restarted the router, disconnected the printer (without ethernet cable as this is wirless), and did all the various troubleshooting items.

 

How can this be changed so printer stays active?  I've only had printer one week and it worked OK.  It then went offline after these 7 days and now it's offline often.  Is it best to just return this model and buy something compatible right off the bat with Windows 10?  Thanks.

Thanks for using the HP Forums.

Can you try using a TCP/IP port?

Create a TCP IP port

1. Print a Configuration Page to get the printer's IPv4 address (you can also tap on the wireless icon on the Front panel of your Printer to get the IP address)
2. On your PC, go to Control Panel, from Devices and Printers, right click the printer and left click Printer Properties, select the Ports tab.
3. Click Add Port, select Standard TCP/IP Port, then select New Port and follow the wizard.
4. Type in the proper IP address for the printer.

Note that you can ALWAYS revert back to the original port that the HP software installed by selecting the HP port under the Ports tab (in Printer Properties)

Thanks for your suggestion.  I decided I am taking the printer back.  HP should be more reliable/compatible right out of the gate.
