I had my HP 1280 printer working fine with Windows 10 on my HP Envy laptop, by pretending it was an HP 1220C, but with the latest updates that option no longer works, and no other options seem to be available. However, with my son's Macbook Pro, I just plug in the printer and it works fine. Come on guys, it's pathetic you don't keep the drivers for the older printers within Windows 10. Do I really have to switch to Apple?

I have solved the problem. I discovered that the Image Colour Management in Printing Preferences, Advanced, had been disabled. By setting it to "Under control of Host" the printer works fine by pretending to be an HP 1220C.
