HP OfficeJet 8615
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

So I connected the printer to wireless. It added the network and has an IP. (10.0.0.54)  From the computer I try to use the IPV4 address to connect, even try on the web browsers.  Can't even ping that Address, though I can ping other addresses on the same network.  When I use the hostname (hpdaa3c) it tries to connect but doesn't then I click "Troubleshoot this connection" on internet explorer and it connects using IPV6.  I can ping that same hostname and it resolves it using IPV6.  I need to be able to configure this printer, and the HP software doens't use IPV6 only IPV4.  I can't ping this from any connection on the network...

Hey @yeager1977,

Welcome to the HP Support Forums!

I understand that you are having some issues with printing from your Windows 7 PC to your Officejet Pro 8615 e-All-In-One Printer. I can help you with that.

First, make sure the printer is plugged directly into a wall outlet. Once done:

  1. On the printer click on the Wireless icon that looks like a tablet with a phone beside it.
  2. Click on the gear in the corner.
  3. Click on Restore Network Defaults.
  4. Turn the printer off.
  5. While the printer is powered off, remove the power cord from the back of the router for one minute.
  6. When all the lights return on the router, turn the printer back on.
  7. Click on the Wireless icon.
  8. Click on the gear.
  9. If you are connecting the printer to a Wireless network, click on Wireless Settings and then Wireless Setup Wizard.

At this point you should be able to ping the printer and install the software. If you are still unable to do either:

  1. Click on the Wireless icon.
  2. Click on the gear.
  3. Click on Wired or Wireless Settings.
  4. Select Manual options.
  5. Enter a different IP Address for the printer. The first three sets of numbers must be the same as they are now, the fourth must be different from anything else on the network. Pick something that is unlikely to get reassigned by the router to something else by mistake. If the rest of your devices have low numbers, pick something like 100 for the fourth number.

Please let me know the results of following the above. If you are able to connect the printer, please click on Accept Solution. If you appreciate my help, please click on the thumbs up icon. Both icons are below this post.
