I try to upgrade the firmware over the network of the HP Officejet 7612.

We do remote support to our customers, and we want to upgrade the firmware of the HP Officejet 7612 over the network. When we let the HP website find the printers in the network, no problem, all listed. I choose the right one, download the firmware and run the executable. It try's to find networkprinters, but doesn't find any?

When browse on the website of the printer there is no possiblility to upload the firmware.

I suppose the upgrade of the firmware is only possible by connecting the printer via a USB cabel to a PC en upgrade from there?

  • Please let me know the operating system installed on the computer.

Printer is a networkprinter, I manage the printer from a Windows 2012 Domain Controller, from the webpage of the printer itself.

  • Do you get any error messages while trying to update the printer’s firmware?

No, when running the OJ7612_R1615A.exe it's scanning for printers in the network but doesn't find any printer at all. (There are 10 printers on the network)

  • How are you trying to update the firmware for the printer? Is it from the computer or from the printer’s control panel?

Because we do remote support on cloud based Servers en Terminal Servers I try to update the firmware from the webbased printer page (By IP Number) But so far I can see there is no manual way to upgrade the firmware by uploading is from file?

So there is no way to access the printer physically on site.

I reviewed the post comprehensively. Stupendous effort and brilliant troubleshooting to try and resolve the issue. 🙂 Kudos to you for a job well done. 🙂

If you’ve tried step 1 in the link from my first post, and also tried step 2 the from the same link and still the update does not work,

The second link that I gave you actually is the printer’s service guide that helps you update the printer firmware directly from the printer by going to it.

Even the first post gives you information on how to update the firmware directly from the printer’s control panel without the help of a computer. (It is directly done from the printer physically on site.)

If this still does not work, then please contact HP phone support to try and get the situation corrected.

Step 1. Open link: www.hp.com/contacthp/

Step 2. Enter Product number or select to auto detect

Step 3. Scroll down to "Still need help? Complete the form to select your contact options"

Step 4. Scroll down and click: HP contact options - click on Get phone number, Case number and phone number appear.

They will be happy to assist you immediately.

If the unit is under warranty, the manufacturer’s warranty should take care of it for you.

Trust me I've done all I can to assist you by keeping your best interest in mind. You've been commendable and it has been an absolute privilege to share this platform with you. 🙂

I genuinely hope the unit works great and stays healthy for a long time once it gets fixed. 🙂

You take care, stay healthy, keep smiling big and do have a blessed year ahead. 🙂
