I have an HP Officejet Pro 8100. It's connected through the network to my Surface Pro 4 running Windows 10. When I add the printer in the Deivce and Printer window, it finds the printer fine. In the printer properties it shows Tray 1 and the Duplex option. However, it does not show Tray 2.
I searched the forum. I've take the following steps:
1. shut off printer
2. remove tray 2
3. powered printer up
4. tested it - test page printed
5. powered down
6. added tray 2
7. powered up
in printer settting - no tray 2 listed in printer properties=> device setting tab
suggestions?

Thanks for the detailed instructions. I was aware of how to do this.
when I came to this step:
- 3. Select the Device Settings tab. Click the accessory that you want to turn on, click Installed from the drop-down menu, and then click OK.
Under "installable options" only the duplexing unit shows, no tray 2..... Hence my problem.
any other suggestions?

AWESOME! The printer doc scan installed a new driver. When I went into the device properties the second installed tray was there!! Thank you. I guess when Win 10 found the printer, the driver wasn't the most up to date.
