Mac OS X 10.9 Mavericks

Whenever I try to connect my MacBook Air to the printer, the printer keeps giving the message" There is a problem with the printer. Turn the printer Off, then On" I do to keep the same message. So... I have to reset the network settings, start again and then the process repeats...

I can print using a cable to connect the PC to the printer but that is NOT wifi printing and such a retrograde step. The old HP printer printed using wifi, why not this newer version?

Greetings @Exasperated2,

Welcome to HP Forums and Thanks for the post.

I understand that you have to reconfigure the printer every time on your computer, to print wireless from your computer running on MAC OS X 10.9.

Don't worry, I will be glad to help.

Have you tried resetting the printing system or assigning a static ip to the printer?

Request you to refer to this HP Article

Perform Steps 3, 4, 5 in the article.

Disable IPV6 as suggested in Step 6.

If the issue persists, assign a static ip address to the printer and check.

  • Obtain the IP address of the printer (which can found by pressing the “wireless” icon on the printer control panel)
  • Enter the IP address on the web browser (Ex: chrome, IE) to enter the printer EWS page.
  • Go to the “Network” tab, click on “Wireless (802.11) then click on “Network address (IPV4)
  • Click on the radio button which says “Manual IP” and then click “Suggest a manual IP address” to give a manual IP address to your printer.
  • Click on the radio button which says “Manual DNS server” and under manual preferred type 8.8.8.8 and under manual alternate type 8.8.4.4 (This is Google DNS server address)

Let me know if this helped.

Good Luck.
