Problem:  Can't create a custom paper size for HP Officejet Pro 8600

Found a solution for Windows 7 but I need this same problem solved for Windows 10....

The solution found:  "Using Driver Deskjet 9800 to set a custom paper size to print to Officejet 8600" worked great for me on a Windows 7 machine...

However, the HP Deskjet 9800 driver is not available for Windows 10...Do you have another driver that I can use that would work with Windows 10 and that is compatible with the HP Officejet Pro 8600....???

Hi,

Use the HP Deskjet 6940 as an alternate driver, if it is not listed under HP it will be listed after clicking the Windows Update button within the Add Printer dialog:

  1. Right click your 8600 printer and select Printer Ptoperties. take a note of which port is selected under Ports.
  2. Click Add Printer.
  3. Click 'The printer that I want isn't listed'
  4. Select A Local port or a netowrk port with manual settings.
  5. Select the port used by your printer.
  6. Select HP
  7. Select HP Deskjet 6940
Note: Click Windwos Update if it is not listed under HP.
  8. Complete the wizrd and use the 6940 driver to print a custom sizes paper.

Hi Shlomil,

That worked out great...Also, to note...once I selected the "Windows Update" option to get other drivers I was able to find the HP Deskjet 9800 as an option to install...I did not think it was available or compatible with Windows 10...anyway either driver will work out ...thank you so much!!!
