8610 All in one printer
Mac OS X 10.10 Yosemite

"For non-hp original ink users an optional firmware update to remove dynamic security is now available for select Officejet, Officejet Pro, Officejet ProX printers."

I have bee patiently waiting for the "fix".   Following the directions posted: http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c05308850?openCLC=true

Step 2) "Click your HP printer model in the following table and run the downloaded firmware update file from your Internet browser."

I seem to have no options for running the download from my iternet browser.

I'm using Safari (and that's all I plan on using).  When I click on the download I get an error message that says there are no applications to open the file. I've tried to right click "open with"- none of the options are internet browsers.

Can you offer any help?

The optional updte to remove the dynamic security feature listed in the document is only intended for a Windows PC.

Are there any other specific directions needed to install.

How do i remove my printer from it's error state?  That's the whole point of this fix?

I did a hard reset on my printer.  http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Printers-Archive-Read-Only/How-to-perform-a-Hard-Reset/m-p/2529099#M417...

That seemed to work.  I have sucessfully downloaded the firmware!
