HP Photosmart 5520

I have tried everything cleaning the printer heads, realigning, cleaning smears etc and nothing works. The supply analysis shows that the ink cartridge is full but nothing reaxches the paper. Plaese help.

Thank you for posting on HP Support Forums. It is a great place to find the help you need, from other users, HP experts, and other support personnel. I came across your post and wanted to assist you, I see from the post that you are having issues printing using your HP 364x cartridge on your HP Photosmart 5520 printer. Don't worry as I have a few steps to help you get through this concern,

 

To provide  you with an accurate solution, I'll need a few more details:

Are you using genuine HP ink cartridges or refilled cartridges?

Which country do you reside in and was the printer purchased from the country?

Did you replace the cartridge recently?

Do you get any error message on the printer screen or on the computer screen?

What is the Operating System installed on the PC? Windows PC or Mac OS

How is the printer connected? USB/Wired/Wireless

 

In the meantime, let's try these steps here:

 

Remove all the ink cartridges and then try to perform a hard reset on the printer.

With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer and also unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.

Remove USB cable, if present.

Wait for 2-3 minutes, press and hold the power button on your printer for about 30 seconds to remove any additional charge.

Now plug back the power cable straight to a wall outlet without any surge protector or an extension cord and then plug back the power cord to the printer.

Turn on the printer and wait till warm-up period finishes and the printer is idle.

Now insert the ink cartridges and then try to print a test page and check if it works.

 

Let’s first try and make a “photocopy” to determine whether the issue is with the printer or not. Place a document on the scanner glass and choose “Copy” option. If the printer is making a good copy, then the printer hardware is fine.

 

If you’re running Windows, I would start by checking the installed printer software by downloading and running the HP Print and Scan Doctor. This tool can diagnose and fix many printing and printer software related issues. Please use this link to help you with that information: http://hp.care/2biN2XE 

 

Since you have already tried cleaning the printhead, realigning, checking for ink smears and nothing seems to have work, this could be a printer hardware. I would recommend you contact our HP phone support for available service options. If your product is Out of warranty, please choose paid option to get the tech support number.

Step 1. Open link: www.hp.com/contacthp/

Step 2. Enter Product number or select to auto detect

Step 3. Scroll down to "Still need help? Complete the form to select your contact options"

Step 4. Scroll down and click: HP contact options - click on Get phone numberCase number and phone number appear.

They will be happy to assist you immediately.
