OfficeJet Pro 8725
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

I made a mistake during installation of my new OfficeJet Pro 8725 and said there would be a fax connected to the printer. I tried to back out of the fax wizard and couldn't back all the way out, so it stayed as part of the installation. After completing the installation of the printer it worked fine. I then went into the printers & devices section of my control panel and removed the old printer. I then noticed an icon stating Pro 8725 Fax. I removed that device, thinking that would correct the problem. However, it appears in doing so I removed some of the important software/drivers used by the printer, as it will no longer print correctly. I tried using diagnostic tools and even tried doing a second download of the software/drivers, but haven't fixed the problem. This is a wireless connection, which works wonderfully when installing, but now both the computer and printer seem to have all the information they need & yet the printer is not happy. Should I delete all HP downloads and start over?

Hi,

Thanks for using the HP Forums.

Please Uninstall and Reinstall the FULL feature software following these steps:

1. Uninstall the software in your computer

Can you try this Uninstaller from Microsoft and then reinstall the FULL feature software again?

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/17588/fix-problems-that-block-programs-from-being-installed...

2. Download and save the FULL feature software (do not install it online)

The following resource will help you :

http://123.hp.com/us/en/

Key in your printer model, Operating System and download & install the FULL feature software.

3. Install the FULL feature “Saved” software

Once you have downloaded and installed the FULL feature software, you will be able to print and scan.

If help is needed, the following example would be useful:

Installing the Software for HP Officejet Pro 8730

Hope that helps!

Thanks Dean for your very helpful suggestion. I continued monkeying around while waiting for a response and suddenly had success. For now everything is working fine, but in reading through your suggestion I can see that it is exactly what I was looking for, especially the included links. This goes into my printer file!
