Windows 10 - NOT a new installation - cannot print wirelessly for past 2 weeks.   I have deleted/reinstalled the printer, done various troubleshooting suggestions regarding powering off wireless router, etc., and nothing helps.  Printer Wireless Network Test Results show no errors for wireless connection.    USB connection printing works fine.  Can any Windows 10 updates be causing the problem?  Last update was KB3206632 2 weeks ago.

I don't know what to try next.

As I understand you are having connectivity issues on your HP OfficeJet Pro 8600 printer. Don't worry, though, as I have a few steps to help you get through this concern,

Hard reset on the printer, router, computer and other devices on the same network.

The following steps temporarily disconnect network and Internet connections and require restarting your computer. Complete any tasks or downloads in progress before continuing.

1. Press the Power button on the printer to turn it off.

2. Disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.

3. Disconnect the power cord from the wireless router.

4. Turn off the computer.

5. Wait for 30 seconds.

6. Reconnect the power cord to the wireless router.

7. Wait for 30 seconds, or until the router is fully on and ready

8. Turn the computer back on.

9. Wait for the computer to reload

10. Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.

11. Turn the printer back on.

If you’re running Windows, I would start by checking the installed printer software by downloading and running the HP Print and Scan Doctor. This tool can diagnose and fix many printing and printer software related issues. Please use this link to help you with that information: http://hp.care/2biN2XE

If the issue persists, I would suggest you try these steps here:

Printer Does Not Maintain Wireless Connection - Click here

If the issue still persists, I would recommend you try these steps which should help to resolve the issue:

Assign a manual IP and creating a TCP/IP port should resolve printer offline issue.

Watch the video to know how to assign a manual IP on HP Printer: http://hp.care/2cqpl6p

Refer this to create a TCP/IP port: http://hp.care/2dxUJQo

Please respond to this post with the result of your troubleshooting. I look forward to hearing from you.

After following the first set of steps, the printer seems to be working now.  However, I had seen this same list of steps in other posts and had previously followed them exactly, but it still wouldn't print wirelessly.   I followed those steps again just now, and after seeing a couple of error messages from the printer, the printer is now printing wirelessly.   This does not make sense, but the printer is printing wirelessly, which it was not before.  Thank you.  If it fails again, I'll be back.

Your detailed fix did absolutely nothing.  I tried the detailed IP address fix and the TCP/IP port directions to the letter.  I also tried the hard reboot everrything and hop three times on your left foot while patting your head and it also did nothing to fix the problem.  Please help me as I depend on this printer for both my  personal and business life.  If this can't be fixed I will stop my lifetime practice of buying HP printers and switch to a different brand where at least the printer will connect and print.

Hi @martybiggs,

Thanks for taking an interest in the HP Support Forums! This is a great location to get resolutions and interact with experts from the community. I understand you are having issues printing from Wireless on your HP OfficeJet printer. Don't worry as I have a few suggestions which should help you resolve this issue.

Kudos to you for a job very well done by trying these steps. It is a privilege to work with tech-savvy and technically competent individuals like yourself.

Let's start off by performing a restore network defaults on the printer.

Reset network settings

To reset the administrator password and network settings, complete the following steps:

1. On the printer control panel, touch (right arrow), touch Setup, and then touch Network.

2. Touch Restore Network Defaults, and then select Yes. A message appears stating that the network defaults have been restored.

Next thing, I would suggest here is to Uninstall and reinstall the printer software:

1.) In Windows, search for and open Programs and features

2.) Select your HP Printer

3.) Select Uninstall

4.) In Windows, search for and open Devices and printers

5.) In the Devices and Printers windows look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose 'Delete' or 'Remove Device'

6.) Open up the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo.

7.) Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between “printui.exe” and “/s”)

8.) Click on the "Drivers" tab

9.) Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom

10.) Select Ok

11.) Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows

12.) Close Devices and Printers

13.) Restart the PC

14.) Now click on this link: https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers Please enter the product number and then select "Software and Drivers" to download the printer software

15.) Connect the USB cable only when prompted and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the setup.

Once done, please follow the steps to setup the Wireless setup wizard on the printer:

The Wireless Setup Wizard provides an easy way to set up and manage a wireless connection to your printer from the printer control panel.

1. Set up the printer hardware. See the getting started guide or the setup poster that came with your printer.

2. On the printer control panel, touch (right arrow), touch Setup, and then touch Network.

3. Touch Wireless, touch Wireless Setup Wizard, and then touch OK.

4. Follow the display instructions to complete the setup.

I hope this helps. Let me know how it goes for further assistance.

Let me know how that pans out,

Feel free to post your query for any other assistance as well,

It's been a pleasure interacting with you and I hope you have a good day ahead.

I've tried all the solutions given. Scan doctor will not connect. The manual IP and manual port would not connect with the printer. Am I doomed to have to buy another printer?

Thank you for the suggestion about using Windows.  Is using the USB cord necessary? My printer is 10 feet from my computer and I don't have a cord that long, and my computer won't be plugged in if I move it closer.

HP Recommended

Here are the steps that I used:

1. Ensure that the printer has an IP Address. Instructions: https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/HP-Connected-Mobile-Printing-and-Cloud-Printing/Officejet-Pro-8600-Fin...

2. Ping the IP Address from the machine from where you are trying to print. This will vaidate basic network communication. a. In the Windows search, type CMD and select "command prompt". b. in the window, type 'ping x.x.x.x' where x.x.x.x is the IP Address from the printer

3a. [if you have the printer setup already] use the scan doctor

3b. [if you do not have hte printer setup already] manually download the driver the HP support site. It is large (about 100 MB compressed)

This solved it for me on both my machines.

NOTE: I only have this problem from my windows PC. I am able to print from my phone or MAC.
